"Oh, okay.  So you just decide not to tell us about this date with this girl that just so happens to be off limits?"

The guys had all come over about ten minutes ago.  I thought it was maybe to help me get ready for my date with Nat, but I guess it was just to yell at me.  Well, Ashton was helping me.  "I'm sorry Calum!  She's really cool, and nice, and kinda hot.  Do any of you see a problem with any of those things?  I don't think so."  I crossed my arms as Ashton continued to brush out my hair with one of my mom's spiky brushes.  "Ow!"

    "Well quit moving, damnit!"

Calum shook his head.  "They're the enemy, Luke.  They've caused us nothing but trouble.  Remember the beach?  Ash almost got his face bitten off by the mean one."

"Her name tag at KFC reads Milla," Ashton points out, sarcastically.

"Maybe they've been trouble for you," I thought.  "But Nat has been really chill since we met.  Also, I don't even get the point of the rest of the girls being off limits if we're trying to set up Mikey with one in the first place."

"There," Ashton said, perfecting my hair into a quiff.  "Done."

We all paused as we heard footsteps running up the stairs.  "We can finish this discussion after your date," Calum held up his phone.  "Which, by the way, you are already late to.  You have two minutes to get to her house on time."

Michael burst through the door, panting.  "Okay, I started the car and sprayed it down with some Febreeze a couple of times."  He came in and looked at Luke.  "Why didn't you do anything to him!  He looks no different than he does on a regular basis."

"It's a chill date.  We didn't want to do something fancy," I told him.  "It's only the first one, too."

"You're expecting more?  Good for you, buddy!"  He gave me a pat on the back but frowned as he looked at my face.  "Why didn't you shave your face?"

Ah, the tiny hairs of teenage boys that sprout in patches and look like remnants of specs of dirt or food.  "'Cause mum said the girls like it this way."

Michael shook his head.  "I don't think so.  Here, someone find me a razor.  I'll shave it off."

"No!  He'll get razor bumps!  That's even worse," Ashton warned.

"Guys, he has to leave," Calum said, basically pushing me out of my room.  "He has his first date tonight."

We get outside and the boys stop on my front steps while I walk with the keys toward the car.  "What about you guys?  My parents aren't home, you know."

"We know your garage passcode, Lukey.  1 2 3 4.  We'll nap here until you get back," Ashton said, crossing his arms.  "Go have fun on your date."

I nodded.  "Yeah.  Okay, I got this."  I was nervous, and had a reason to be.  This was my very first date with an actual girl.  I've talked with girls online but they just seem to think I'm a nerd or something, which I'm not.  Just because I'm good at math for some reason, to the ladies, means that I'm undateable.  Their loss.  "You'll be here when I get back, right?"

"You can count on it.  My mom locks me out when I stay out past midnight," Michael says, crossing his arms.

"Okay."  I nodded once more before heading into the car and backing out, driving away to Nat's house.

The McKinstry's live in a super nice neighborhood, not too long away from my own.  Only thing though is that they live right on the ocean in basically the nicest beach house known to man.
