Ginna's POV: The Red Thing That Shattered My Soul

Oh god, let's try and not drown. I follow Milla out and see Nat standing with three surfboards next to her.

"Ok, well let's go out there," Nat says, "put this around your ankle, then when you get out there go on your stomach and paddle, when you see a wave stand up and um, don't fall." I grab one and follow what Nat is doing. We walk in the water till it's up to our waist and then Nat gets on and starts to paddle. I look at Mila and she shrugs. We both get on and paddle.

"Hurry up guys, I see a nice wave coming," Nat says. We've been in the shallower water for a little trying to find our balance. The wave comes closer and I start to paddle to shore and stand up when I feel myself getting pulled back. This is scary. I try doing what Nat says and find my balance. I somehow survive and when the wave is done I flop over into the water.

"You fall over after it's gone," Milla yells. I smile at her and see her a couple feet away.

"I think you guys are ready to go into the deep with Kali," Nat says. We both smile and I get on my board. Kali has been out there the whole time surfing the big waves.

We paddle out silently to the little dot in the distance. Kali is waving at us. I wave back. When we get close I see she's sitting on her board, feet dangling in the water. I copy her. It kind of makes me think I'll get eaten by a shark. I guess i'm okay with that though.

"So, how's it been, how many time did you think you were going to die?" Kali questions.

"Um, I'd have to say about five times, six maybe," Milla answers. I nod in agreement.

"Well get ready, time to prove yourselves," Kali says pointing out in the distance at the wave coming. She immediately starts to paddle out. Ok, we can do this, remember what Nat said, find your balance. The wave comes closer and I do what I did last time. The wave takes me close to shore. I was laughing happily, I felt so free.

Then I saw it, just a glimpse of that red hair and I fall off in surprise. 

All I could think of when I was under the water was that shark from earlier eating him, even if sharks don't eat humans. The shark would gladly eat him, or even me.
