'Come on Jesse, just one drink?' I pleaded, tugging at his mechanical arm, insisting he have a glass of whiskey with me. After all, it was his favourite.

'No darling' Jesse said, shaking his head at me.

'You know I've got work in the morning' he continued, flashing me a weak smile. I sighed, rolling my eyes. It was a Friday night, and we were out with our friends.

'Call in sick?' I suggested, trying to convince him to have some fun with me. When Jesse and I first started dating, we were getting drunk every weekend and were having so much wild and crazy sex. However, as our relationship went on and time passed, it became rather dull. I still loved him, but I was bored. It just wasn't fun anymore and I'd had enough.

Jesse worked long and hard hours and became distant from our relationship. We were barely intimate, and I don't remember the last time he swept me off my feet. I tried, attempting to surprise him with candle lit dinners and little gifts every now and then, but he was always too tired to really appreciate all that I did for him.

I sighed, as I reflected on these unfortunate realities, before gesturing the bartender.

'Just a whiskey on the rocks thanks' I muttered, throwing money down on the table.

The bartender nodded before pouring my drink, as Jesse and I sat in silence. I shuffled in my seat, uncomfortably. I saw our friends out on the dance floor, wanting more than anything to go and join them. I quickly drank my beverage and pulled at his hands.

'Let's go dance' I begged with one last effort.

'No sweetheart, I best be off – I'll see you at home?' Jesse said, planting a quick kiss on my cheek.

'I'll go with you' I said, attempting to walk off with him.

'No, please stay. At least one of us should enjoy the night' he smiled, gesturing me over to the dance floor.

'Okay' I said quietly, irritated he refused to stay with me.

'I love you darlin' he said, trying to pull me against him and kiss my lips, but I turned my head away.

'Goodbye' he sighed, shoving money into my hand before letting go and walking out the front entrance. He hadn't been drinking, so he'd probably drive his truck home. I'd probably catch a cab home. Not now though, later.

I shook my head before walking over to the dance floor. I wanted to have fun and forget about our relationship troubles. I began dancing with my friends, singing along to songs from the 80s', before a handsome man started dancing next to me.

I felt him press up against me, whispering in my ear, trying his absolute hardest to flirt with me.

'I have a boyfriend' I yelled at him, hoping he heard me over the music.

'Yeah? And where is he tonight?' the stranger shouted back, smirking.

I frowned, unsure of how to answer that. I began to feel guilty, knowing Jesse wouldn't appreciate his forward gesture. However, at that moment in time, I didn't care what Jesse thought. There was no passion or spark between us anymore and talking with this man was the most fun I'd had all night. I missed having someone flirting with me.
