Part Forty-Five: Reaper x Female Reader - Believe

Rating: MODERATE

Author's Note: This story is based off of a photo that shows Reyes' overlooking a family on Christmas, which wasn't chosen 'randomly' and I decided to base a little narrative around it. I've missed you all and apologise for my absence. Hope you enjoy!

Regarding content, your life is going perfectly; with a job and a baby on the way, happily married to a fine lover. However, you've never been able to get over the loss of your first love, Gabriel Reyes, since his unfortunate passing. Will you be able to let go or will you be haunted by him forever?

'Yes honey, I'm on my way home now' you smiled shaking your head. It was a little unusual having someone else this concerned about your whereabouts, but it made you feel safe and cared for.

You turned the corner of the street, making your way over to the car. It had been an exceptionally long day at work and it had drained you of all energy. You sighed, relief parting from your lips. It was a Friday and you had a restful weekend ahead of you.

You stopped momentarily, nausea overwhelming you. You were told that the first trimester would be hard, but you never expected it to be this difficult. You were growing another life inside of you and scolded yourself for hating the natural process and peak of womanhood, but you couldn't help it. Pregnancy was painful.

You approached your car, fiddling inside your handbag before realising that you'd left your keys in your office. You rolled your eyes in an exasperated manner before turning on your heels and heading back to the building.

The wintry air caused the hairs on your neck to stand on end, as you shivered, cursing yourself for being too dedicated to your job. Initially, you started out as a mere medical student, taken under Doctor Angela Ziegler's wing. Now, you were working in one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world. You looked at the building sadly, realising it reminded you of the Overwatch Headquarters, where you once met and lost the love of your life.

You sighed, fidgeting with the bracelet you continued to wear around your wrists, the letter 'G' the centre, surrounded by diamonds. When family and friends asked, you lied claiming it was dedicated to your mother. Only you knew the truth of what the G stood for...

'Gabriel' you murmured sadly, stroking the delicate garment before shaking your head. He was dead now, and you needed to move forward with your life. Gabriel Reyes was gone and he was never coming back.

You sat down at your office, grabbing your car keys, taking a moment to reflect on your history, nostalgia plaguing the atmosphere.

You started to remember how you'd met the infamous Gabriel Reyes. You were just a young medical assistant, fresh on the field and driven to change the world. You had hated him at first, always so cynical and pessimistic. He criticised every value you stood for, and all you could do was bite your tongue and do your job, unable to argue with the commander of Blackwatch.

You assisted him on a mission in Dubai, to gather intel on an organisation who posed a threat to Overwatch. You begged him to stay and wait for assistance, but he refused, commanding you remained where you were while he infiltrated the base alone. You protested, but he silenced you, ignoring your pleas.

You followed after him, furious, knowing he was putting himself at risk. Gabriel certainly had a God complex but he wasn't immortal. The only memories you had from that night were that you saw the mercenary in hiding, ready to put a bullet to Reyes' head from behind. You charged him, causing the assassin to take a shot at you instead, alerting Gabriel of the situation, allowing him to viciously murder your attacker.
