Kyle appreciates Stan. Stan is a good best friend - a super best friend, if you will. Stan makes him feel good about himself and makes him happy.

Kyle might be in love with Stan. Maybe. He's not willing to admit that to himself (or anyone else for that matter) yet.

Because Kyle isn't gay. Or at least, he doesn't want to be. Sort of.

Yes, he and Stan are kind of dating sort of, on the down low.

Yes, he does like Stan.

No, he does not like to be called gay. It's just not something he wants to deal with. Not an issue he wants to talk about.

For one reason.

Wendy.

Well, sort of.

Stan has always had an on-and-off thing with Wendy. Always. Since they were young up until around now.

And Kyle isn't sure he's 100% over her. Kyle isn't sure at all.

Sometimes, Kyle sees the way Stan looks at her and there's just no way he's not still in love with her, that he doesn't still like her, that he's not just using Kyle as a one time fling.

So coming out is too high risk to do.

And, Kyle being Kyle, decided that if he can't come out to the world, he can't come out to himself. He wears his acceptance openly. So he can't let himself fall for Stan if he's not going to be there the whole way.

So, Kyle's fine with the sneaking around game they're playing.

For now.
