*11 P.M*
It's been 10 hours and I haven't heard a word from Jack. Ellie and Hayden came home from school and when they saw he wasn't there they got sad.
I told them he would be home but it's just too late now. I'm getting really worried.
All the kids are in bed and I wait for him in the living room.
As I wait for him all I can do is cry. I don't like the way he looked before he left. It scared me.
I think about calling him but I'm to scared to.
Eventually, the door softly opens and I look over to it. I see Jack trying to tip toe inside.
He sees me and I see his face drop
"Oh my god baby, have you been crying" he notices my distressed look and comes over engulfing me into a big hug
"Wh-where have you been"
"I went to my moms."
"Why?"
"I needed help cooling off and she gives the best advice"
"You- you scared me"
"I know I am so so sorry. I should've never yelled at you"
"That's not why I'm scared. I-I thought you were going to hit Hayden."
"I would never"
"I-i know what he did was bad but we could've talked to him and tried to understand. Now he wont talk to anyone"
"What do you mean"
"Right when you left he went to his room and didn't come out. Ellie went in his room but he didn't say anything. I tried giving him dinner but he didn't eat. He's really shaken up about it all"
"I should've never let my anger control me"
"I thought you were going to hit me" I whisper
With that he wraps me in an even tighter hug
"I would never ever ever in a million years hit you."
"I-I'm sorry I hugged him"
"Shh don't be it's okay."
"I love you Jack and I never wanted you to be like that again"
"I know and I love you too."
He kisses me gently and wipes away my tears
"I'm sorry for how I acted" he whispers
"It's okay. I know you don't want to but for me can you talk to Hayden"
"I definitely want to. I feel so bad."
"You don't have to apologize for taking his things just please apologize for scaring him"
"I will I promise"
We walk upstairs and I go in my room as Jack starts at Ellie's and then Hunters.
Finally he walks across the hall to Hayden's room
I stay behind the door looking into the room
"Hey buddy" Jack says sitting on Hayden's bed
"Oh uh hi dad I was just reading a book um so yeah I'm being good you don't have to worry." Hayden says fast and I can tell it's because he's nervous
"I wanted to apologize"
"Oh" he says looking down
"I didn't mean to scare you like that. It's just fights remind me of my past and in the past I was an awful awful person. And most of it was fighting with people. I just don't want you to act like I did. I made major mistakes. You know one of my biggest mistakes happened with Mom. I-I cheated A LOT on her and the worst. When she found out, I gave her a list of everyone. I know I shouldn't tell you that but when she broke up with me I turned to violence. And I almost did something i would have really regretted. I guess I kinda made you this way. It's in my and your blood" He sniffles
"It's okay Dad, you were just mad. But do you actually believe I should be hit?"
"No, no of course not I don't know why I said that. I would never hit you."
"A-are you sure. Cause you looked like you were going to seriously hurt me"
Before Jack says anything he quickly pulls Hayden into a hug
"I-I'm so sorry. I made a huge mistake."
"You scared me"
"I am the worst dad ever"
"Not all the time" Hayden says with a laugh
"Hey!" Jack pushes his shoulder lightly and they laugh
"I'm sorry for being a bad kid" Hayden says wiping his tears and hugging Jack again
"You aren't a bad kid somethings just going on in the curly little head of yours" he ruffles his hair and laughs
"How long am I punished for?"
"How about this if you promise me you'll be good when you get back to school I'll give everything after your suspension"
"Okay that's fine"
"Well it's getting late now and I'm tired. Im sorry for earlier I just love you and I don't want you to become like me"
"I love you too"
They hug and Jack kisses his forehead
"Goodnight"
"Goodnight"
Jack leaves the room and notices me
"Ready for bed?" He asks
I nod and we walk to our room.
"I love you so much. I will never do that again"
"Promise"
"Promise. Here let me show you how much I love you"
