Jackie Kennedy’s Bedroom

Wednesday 4th November 1964

Jack woke to find the sun streaming in through the blinds. When he rolled over he found Jackie wasn’t there but there was a note. It read “I’ll be back shortly go back to sleep bunny x”

Jack wasn’t going to argue, he put the note on his bedside table and cuddled back down. He hadn’t slept properly in months he wasn’t going to pass up the chance.

10am

Jack was woken by Jackie nuzzling his neck. “Good morning Mr President.”

“Morning.”

“Are you ready to give your victory speech?”

“Yes, I have it.”

“Good.” Jackie smiled. “Are you ready for the press conference after?”

“No but hopefully it’ll be fine.”

She kissed him. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The Press Briefing room

Jack had given his victory speech and was now doing a press conference.

“Mr President what do you plan to do with the rest of this week?” A journalist asked.

“My wife and I are flying to the Cape later today and Caroline and John are going to join us on Friday.”

“Why are you leaving Washington?”

“The campaign as much as it’s fun, is exhausting so I’m going to rest.”

“Are your staff on holiday?”

“I’ve given my senior staff this week off but there at the end of the phone if I need them.”

Once the gruelling session was over Jack went back up to the residence, he couldn’t wait to get to the cape and be alone with Jackie and Molly.

Jack and Jackie’s House

Squaw Island

Jack was lying on the sofa in a pair of slacks and a polo shirt. Jackie was upstairs with Molly. He was lying thinking about the next four years when the phone rang. He picked up the receiver. “Yeah?”

“Hey Jack its Red.”

“Hiya how are you?” Jack asked.

“I’m good, what about you Mr President?”

Jack laughed. “I’m good.”

After another few minutes he hung up, even though he had friends this really was the loneliest job in the world, he was glad he had his family.

“Bunny?” Jackie asked as she sat down beside him, putting his feet in her lap.

“Yes kid?”

“Bobby and Teddy are coming at the weekend.”

Jack nodded. “Fun.”

Jackie laughed. She knew she had to keep him cheery he was becoming exhausted.
