Chapter 22: Hide and Seek

It's been a week since I cut my communication with my Ex.
I even deactivated my facebook coz he flooded my messenger with messages.
Deya said since I went to uni he saw Joseph standing by our gate at night.
He didnt knock.
He's like watching me from there.
Eversince school break started Mom has been rostered almost everyday.
She only has Wed and Thurs off now.
Thank God otherwise she wouldve called the police once she saw Joseph at the front of our house in the middle of the night.

It's Friday morning.
Mom invited Johnson's family for lunch.
Its Melinda's birthday and mom wants to cook for her.
She said their house is a mess and is under renovation so we'll host the lunch instead.

Ive just had a shower when I heard Johnson's car honking at the gate.
They'll be fine.
Everything's almost ready at the dining table anyway.
I can still put some nail polish on.

at lunchtime
I made my way downstairs.
I decided to wear a red skater dress today.
Ive been on my fluffy pajama pants for days since I came back from my trip to Uni.
I put my hair up in a messy bun.
I looked in the mirror and put some liptint on.
I looked much much better that I was a week ago.
Im feeling better too.

I joined the people at the dining table, I sat down beside Johnson who praised me for looking cute on my hairdo and was just eating my food for about 10 minutes when there was a knock on the door.
Deya stood up and opened it.

I continue eating my food while chatting with Johnson about his college preparations when Dina yelled

"Errmmmm. Mom, Freya.. Joseph is here!"

I gasped.
Shit!
What does he want?
I cant move, I dont want to look at the front door.
I looked at Mom instead, she looked surprised then she smiled and stood up then walked towards the door.

"Oh Joseph! Finally you've come to join us for lunch. Come on in. We just started eating. I didn't know Freya invited you." she said to him.

Deya went to sit back on her chair across mine.
She's looking at me like she's asking if I really invited Joseph.
I glared at her and shook my head.
She mouthed "What the hell"
I mouthed "I know!"
I still didnt look at Joseph.
I dont want to see him looking at me.

I grab the glass in front of me then started gulping some water.
He pulled the chair beside me and sat down.
Great!
I tried to wiggle my chair near Johnson while i finish the whole glass.
I heard him fake a cough.
But I ignore and went on eating my food.
Mom put food on his plate.

I hurriedly ate my food that I almost gag because my appetite was gone all of a sudden.
I wanna run to my bedroom!

I was about to refill my glass with water when Johnson grabbed the jug and did it for me instead.
I thanked him.

Joseph faked a cough again this time more louder.
i felt him kicking my foot under the table.
I wiggled my chair towards Johnson more.
I heard Joseph wiggling his chair towards me too.
Wtf!

Mom and Melinda were chatting about their work.
I pretended I was listening to them when suddenly Melinda said

"You are a very beautiful girl Freya, I still keep on wondering how do you keep boys away from you? I mean no boyfriend since birth? Wena must be so proud!"

I almost choked on my water and started coughing.
Both Johnson and Joseph stroked my back.
and said "Are you okay?" in unison.
