Crashed(Completed)

Chapter 26

A month have gone by after the incident with Conner. By now everyone knew that we had a fight, but only Ben, Matt and Hannah knew the truth. We still ignore each other, although Conner has tried a few times to get my attention, but I'm done with his accusations.

After he stormed off that day on the beach, Ben held me to him as I was crying and later he walked back with me. I was shocked to see that Conner has put all my things infront of Ben's hut and was deeply hurt that he could think so low of me. Matt and Hannah was already awake, so Ben told Matt what happened and he was furious at Conner. Ben moved in with one of the guys, so I could move into his hut. At first I didn't want him to give it up, but he told me a secret that day that had my mouth hanging open.

I've kept myself busy at all times, not to think of Conner and lost more weight. One morning I went with Ben and a few guys to hunt and the stories they tell me to distract me from my own problems, had me laughing so hard that my stomach hurts. We found a wild pig in one of Ben's traps and some corn, as well as ostrich eggs.

As we came into the clearing where the huts were, we heard the commotion. Conner was sitting on the ground with a busted lip and Matt was towering over him. People were watching them arguing and no one noticed us. " You need to grow up man, you are so quick to judge Maddie, but all this time you should of  begged for her forgiveness, as she forgave you last time for falsely accusing her and what do you do, you accuse her of the same thing while she did nothing wrong. Now you wanna get jealous that she went hunting with Ben. You are the one who pushed her away and Ben was always there for her. You know what, you are the pathetic one."

I felt nauseated at that moment and put my things down on the ground before running back into the woods where I got violently sick. I feel someone holding my hair up for me and I looked up in Ben's concerned eyes. He gave me a cloth to wipe my face and I thanked him. After a few minutes I felt better and made my way back to the camp, but Ben stopped me.

"Maddie, I know its none of my business, but did Conner use any protection when you guys had um, you know what I mean." I looked at Ben shocked, then tears came to my eyes. Oh God no, this can't be happening. I think back over the last few days and that's when realization hits me. I'm pregnant with Conners baby and stuck on an island.

I start panicking at that moment, but Ben took me by my shoulders and told me that I need to calm down, that everything will work out. We both walked back to the other's and luckily no one have noticed that I ran off a short while ago, except for the guys I went hunting with. Ben picks up his bags, as well as mine and before I could protest, he walks to where everyone was.

I felt a bit self conscious, aspecially now that I know that I'm pregnant, then realise that no one will know unless I tell them, so I decide to act naturally. I see Matt give Conner a disgusted look before walking away from him and Hannah went to Matt and said something to him. He turns and looked at me and came over.

Matt pulls me into his arms and whisper, "sorry about that" and kissed the side of my head. I knew that he was talking about the confrontation between him and Conner, so I nod my head. My eyes went to Conner and I saw him watching us, so I decide to just ignore him.

Everyone decided to go down to the beach front later that evening as it was a full moon. One of the guys came to me later to ask if I would like a drink and I nearly puked, so I declined quickly and said that I would rather stick to water, which made him laugh.

During the evening I felt Conner watching me. Ben must of notice it as well, because he would sit with his arm around my shoulder, while his friend sits in the other side of me. I got up later when most people made their way back to their huts and walked down to the water, not realising that Conner has followed me.

"Maddie, can we talk please," I hear him say from behind me, so I turned around to face him. "You know what, I think you had your chance to talk to me. I move past him to walk away. "Maddie, I know that I have stuffed up again and I'm truly sorry. Please, if there is anything I could do to make it right, just tell me."

I turn back to him. "You can start by staying out of my life, like you wanted in the first place." I turn away from him and walk away.
