Adeline's P.O.V

"What the hell happened to you?" I asked Archie. I went to go visit Archie after school. After a long day at school, I wanted to see my brother.

"What are you talking about?" Archie asked me.

"Your shoes are gone. You're acting extremely sore. What gives?" I asked Archie.

"Nothing," Archie said.

"Sure," I scoffed.

"How's dad? How's Vegas?" Archie asked, changing the subject.

"Dad and Vegas are fine. I came as soon school had let me out," I told Archie.

"How is school?" He asked me.

"School's fine. There's someone new and he's pretty cool," I told Archie.

"He?" Archie asked me.

"His name is Beckham. He's a nice guy,"I told Archie.

"I see. How are you, Adeline?" Archie asked me.

"I'm fine. How are you? Besides being all sore," I asked.

"I'm adjusting."

"That's good," I nodded.

"Are you and dad doing okay without me?" Archie asked.

"We're doing okay. It's still not the same without you," I tell him.

"You guys are going to be okay," Archie said.

"I know," I nodded.

When I got home, I told dad about seeing Archie. We sat on the kitchen table as we sipped on some coffee and tea.

"Are you sure you're okay sweetie?" Dad asked me.

"Of course, dad. I have to be strong for you don't I?" I asked him. Dad smiled at me before holding my hand.

"So tell me about school," Dad said.

"Well, there are two new students at school. I showed one of them around because he wanted help. The other new kid, didn't need want any help," I tell him.

"I see."

"He's pretty cool," I tell him.

"It's a he?" Dad asked me.

"Yup," I nodded.

"How's Archie? You didn't go into detail about seeing him," Dad told me.

"I'm worried about him," I tell him.

"Why?" He asked.

"Something seems off at where he's at," I tell him.

"How so?"

"It just feels off," I tell him.

"I'll see if I can go see him tomorrow okay?" Dad told me.

"Okay," I nodded.
