Adeline's P.O.V

The next day at school, I saw Beckham walking around. From the look on his face, he looked lost. I managed to catch up to him.

"Hi, Beckham," I smiled.

"Hey, Adeline," Beckham smiled back. He stopped his tracks making me do the same.

"You lost? You looked a little lost," I told him.

"I was actually looking for you," Beckham told me.

"For me?" I asked.

"Yes. I was wondering if you'd like to go to that diner, Pop's, after school with me?" Beckham asked.

"Like on a date?" I asked him.

"Yeah. You're really pretty and a lot of the people here talk about you. In a good way, of course," Beckham said shyly. I blushed at his words.

"Okay. Yeah. Meet me at the front of the school after today?" I asked him.

"Sure," Beckham smiled.

"I have to get to my locker now but I'll see you later," I said.

"Okay," Beckham nodded.

"Bye," I said with a small wave before walking off.

As I grabbed my stuff from my locker, I saw someone from the corner of my eye leaning against the lockers. I looked over to see Sweet Pea.

"Can we talk?" Sweet Pea asked me.

"What do you need, Sweet Pea?" I asked.

"Who was that guy?" He asked me.

"Beckham. He's a nice guy and he's new," I told him.

"Are you going on a date with him?" Sweet Pea asked me.

"Why would it matter? You and I are over. And don't forget that it was what you did that caused us to break up," I said to Sweet Pea.

"Adeline, it was a mistake. I'm sorry," Sweet Pea said.

"I'm sure you are," I told him before slamming my locker door and walking away.

I felt anxious all day for this lunch date. It was the first time I've been with a guy other than Reggie or Sweet Pea. My thoughts were interrupted by non other than Cheryl.

"So my little apprentice, a little birdie told me that you have a date later today," Cheryl told me.

"Yes," I nodded.

"Do you have your little makeup kit in your locker?" Cheryl asked me.

"Of course. I don't want you scowling me about not having one in my locker," I told her.

"Grab your kit and let's get you a little more glammed up," Cheryl said. I nodded before getting up from the couch in the lounge room.

I was never the one to overstep Cheryl. Sure she scared me but she had always treated me like a little sister. I couldn't betray her trust.

"So tell me about this guy," Cheryl told me.

"His name is Beckham. He's new here and he's really cute," I tell her.

"At least you're moving on," Cheryl smiles at me.

"Yeah."

"Toni told me that Sweet Pea won't stop talking about how much he misses you," Cheryl told me.

"It's his fault. He was the one who decided to cheat on me with Josie," I tell her.

"Look at the bright side, you're open to dating new people now. Like Beckham for instance," Cheryl told me.

"Yeah," I smiled softly.

After school, I waited by my locker for Beckham. I saw him walk over to me with a smile.

"Hi," Beckham said.

"Hi," I said back.

"Are you ready to go?" Beckham asked me.

"Yup," I smiled.

"Great. Your parents are cool for you to hang out after school?" Beckham asked me.

"Of course," I nodded.

"I'm just making sure. I had this one girl's parents who were super protective of her," Beckham told me.

"I see," I nodded.

Beckham drove the two of us to Pop's diner. I saw Veronica working there. I waved over at her as she smiled at me. Beckham and I sat in a booth across from each other.

"So, what do you recommend here?" Beckham asked me.

"A cliche burger and fries and a milkshake," I tell him.

"That sounds good," Beckham told me.

"Hi guys. What can I get you two started off with?" Veronica asked us.

"Two burgers and fries along with a chocolate milkshake and a..." Beckham looked at me for what flavor of milkshake I wanted.

"A strawberry milkshake," I tell Veronica.

"Two burgers, two fries, a chocolate milkshake, and a strawberry milkshake," Veronica repeated to us.

"Yup," I nodded, confirming the order.

"I'll be back with your guy's food and drinks," Veronica smiled before we gave her the menus.

"So how are you liking Riverdale so far?" I asked Beckham.

"It's pretty great. Everyone's nice," Beckham told me.

"Well I'm glad you're enjoying our small town," I tell him.

"Although, that Evelyn chick seemed extremely familiar," Beckham told me.

"She did?" I asked him.

"Yeah, but she probably has one of those faces," Beckham told me.

"Maybe," I nodded.

"So, tell me about yourself Adeline," Beckham said.

"What do you want to know?" I asked.

"Who is the great and beautiful Adeline. Everyone in school seems to talk about you but you seem so quiet," Beckham told me.

"Well, I'm the only daughter in my family. My favorite color is pink and I love to read," I tell him.

"What's a fun thing to do around here?" Beckham asked me.

"Maybe going to Sweetwater River and have a picnic by there or going to the movies," I tell him honestly.

"Maybe I can take you to those places on another date if you let me?" Beckham told me.

"Maybe. Tell me about you first though," I tell him.

"I'm an only child. My favorite color is green and I like dogs," Beckham told me.

"I actually have a dog," I tell him.

"Really?" Beckham asked me.

"Yeah. His name's Vegas," I told him.

"What kind is he?" Beckham asked me.

"A golden retriever," I tell him.

"Alright you two. Two burgers, two fries, a chocolate milkshake, and a strawberry milkshake," Veronica said as she placed the food in front of us.

"Thanks Veronica," I smiled.

"Thanks," Beckham said as well.

"You guys enjoy," Veronica smiled before leaving us alone. I looked over at Beckham before taking a sip of my drink.

"I think you have a shot on a second date," I tell him. Beckham smiled at me.

"You won't regret it. I promise," Beckham tells me.
