Thirty Eight

Adeline's P.O.V

"Are you sure that it's her?" Betty asked Beckham.

"I'm positive. Look," Beckham said before opening his yearbook to the page.

There she was. Evelyn Evernever as a junior while Beckham was a freshman. I was in shock that she could've been older. Not to mention that this was extremely illegal.

"Should we confront her?" I asked Betty.

"Not yet. She could easily say that it was a yearbook mistake. We need more proof," Betty told me.

"Well whatever you need, we can help you out on it," I tell her.

"Thank you guys."

At school, I kept a close eye on Evelyn. Beckham did too. Betty told us to not talk to her about the Farm or get too close to her. It didn't matter to me since I was busy with school and making sure that Archie didn't screw anything up.

"Adeline, you need to stop something," I heard. I followed them over to see Betty pinning Evelyn against the lockers in a threatening way. I sighed before walking over.

"Betty. Let her go," I tell her. Betty did as I said before walking off. Evelyn looked over at me.

"Thank you so much," Evelyn told me.

"Don't thank me, Evelyn. You obviously did something to provoke her," I tell her as I crossed my arms.

"I didn't provoke her."

"Don't bullshit me, Evelyn. The next time Betty gets more serious with you, I'd take her word for it. I know what she's capable of and you should start realizing it," I tell her before walking away.

That night, I was with Beckham and his family at Pop's. I wore my best outfit (thanks to Cheryl and Toni) to meet his parents and siblings. Beckham's grandparents were also coming along. 

"Dad, do I look okay?" I asked him before doing a small spin for him.

"You look beautiful. Just remember tho be yourself," dad said before kissing my forehead. 

"I will."

I heard knocking on the door making me rush over to open it. I smiled at Beckham as he stood in front of me.

"Hey, beautiful," Beckham said as he took my hand into his. He kissed the top of my hand making me blush. 

"Hey, Beckham," dad said as he came over to the front.

"Hello, Mr. Andrews. I'll have Adeline home by ten," Beckham told him.

"You two have fun," dad told us. 

"Thanks dad," I said before kissing his cheek. 

Beckham started to drive to Pop's diner. I felt nervous meeting Beckham's family. I felt nervous meeting Sweet Pea's family and nothing has changed again. 

"So tell me about your family again," I asked Beckham. 

"I have two older brothers and a younger sister. My mom is a nurse and my dad is a doctor. My brothers would like to experience the La Bonne Nuit or that fight your brother is in to be honest. They're a little rowdy but they're nice. Trust me," Beckham told me.

"I do."

Once we got to Pop's, Beckham and I walked inside. I spotted Beckham's grandparents talking to his family.

"You ready?" Beckham asked me.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I tell him. 

"Alright. Come on," Beckham lead me over to the table.

"Hey, everyone. I want you to meet Adeline Andrews. My girlfriend. Adeline, this is my parents and my siblings."

"Oh my gosh! I love your outfit," Beckham's little sister said.

"Thank you. I like your outfit as well," I tell her.

"Adeline, it's good to see you again sweetie," Beckham's grandmother said.

"Hi, Mrs. Holtby," I said before giving her and Beckham's grandfather a hug.

"Hi, Adeline. I'm Beckham's mom. You can call me Yvonne," Beckham's mother smiled sweetly at me.

"It's so nice to meet you."

"This is Beckham's father, Tanner."

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Holtby."

"Pleasure's all mine. It's nice to meet the woman who's changed my son's mischief's ways," Beckham's father chuckled.

"Adeline, these are my brothers, Corey and Logan. And my sister, Harper."

"It's nice to meet you guys," I smiled. 

"So how does a pretty girl like you get with our little brother?" Logan joked. 

"Oh shut up," Beckham said, rolling his eyes playfully.

"Have you been in Riverdale for a while, Adeline?" Yvonne asked me.

"Yes. I have been here my whole life. I've known almost everyone since I was born," I tell her. 

"I heard that the food in this diner is so good," Corey said. 

"They are. It's the best of the best around here."

"Is that your natural hair color? Cause it's so pretty," Harper said.

"Thank you. This is my natural hair color," I blushed.

"Tell us about yourself, Adeline," Beckham's father said.

"I have an older brother. I live with my dad since my mom lives in Chicago," I tell Beckham's family.

"How is your brother doing, Adeline?" Mr. Holtby asked.

"He's doing well," I answered.

"I heard he's having a boxing match."

"Oh yeah. He's planning to do a rematch with another boxer."

"Fighting's no good but I will be rooting for him."

"Thank you."

"Your brother's a boxer?" Logan asked me.

"He's an amateur boxer if I'm being honest. I love my brother but he can be a little stubborn sometimes," I tell them.

"Well family is family and you should always stick besides them," Mr. Holtby said.

"I agree with you sir."

"I've seen a couple of boutiques here and they are beautiful," Yvonne mentioned.

"They are. I like to go shopping around there all the time," I tell her. 

"Well, let's order some of this amazing food and we can go take a stroll," Mr. Holtby said.
