Thirty Four

Adeline's P.O.V

Kevin had decided to do the musical, Heathers, for the next musical. After I helped Cheryl with her break up with Toni, I knew Cheryl was going to change up Kevin's musical. And lucky for me, I was able to be Veronica Sawyer. Josie was my understudy which I felt really happy about. Today at school, I wore an inspired Veronica Sawyer outfit.

"You look beautiful, Veronica," I smiled at Beckham who leaned against the desk next to me.

"Thank you."

"I cannot wait to support you. I have a florist on speed dial so I can get you flowers for your show," Beckham tells me. I smiled before giving him a soft kiss.

"Adeline. Come on, we gotta prep up for the show," Cheryl said as she, Betty, and Veronica walked over.

"Okay. I'll see you later, Beckham."

I followed the girls as we went to Cheryl's locker. I leaned against on a locker as the three were making sure everything was perfect.

"Adeline. Come here," Cheryl said. I stood by her as Cheryl started to fix up some parts of my makeup and clothing.

"And you know, you know, you know; This could be beautiful; Mascara maybe some lip gloss; And we're on our way; Get this girl some blush; And, Heather, I need your brush; Let's make her beautiful," Cheryl sang.

"Let's make her beautiful; Let's make her beautiful. Beautiful."

"Okay?" Cheryl asked.

"Okay."

We saw the rest of the cast as well as Kevin, making us walk over to the theater room. After singing Beautiful, we sat down in the audience chairs. I sat next to Cheryl who linked arms with me.

"Greetings, Heathers family. Now, before we start today, there's been a slight change to our creative team. You all know Evelyn Evernever has been helping me produce the musical. But I've also asked Evelyn to step up and be my co-director," Kevin said. We all looked at Evelyn who walked over and sat next to Kevin. She gave me such cult vibes.

"Yay! So fun!" Evelyn said.

"What? Kevin, no, you always direct the musical alone," Betty said.

"Which has been incredibly stressful, Betty. Especially after last year's events," Kevin tells her.

"Can we just not talk about Midge? Please?" Fangs asked us. I understood why he did not want to talk about her.

"No. How about we do a rundown of everybody's parts, catch Evelyn up to speed?" Kevin asked.

"I'm playing Veronica Sawyer, outcast turned Heather turned outcast again," I smiled proudly. Cheryl smiled as she hugged me.

"Hi, I'm Sweet Pea. Um, playing JD, Veronica Sawyer's bad boy love interest," Sweet Pea said. Beckham was slightly upset when he found out about Sweet Pea playing my love interest. This only made my feelings more complicated.

"Reggie Mantle. AKA jock Ram Sweeney. Gonna bro it up with my bud Arch here, just two single straight dudes doing some theater," Reggie said making me laugh a little.

"Given how much dancing there is in Heathers, Evelyn and I felt we should bring on a choreographer, so give a big Heathers hello to Riverdale's resident fly girl, Toni Topaz!" Toni walked over, making us clap for her. I stopped when I noticed Cheryl upset.

"Um, does anyone have a chainsaw, because what the..."

"Maybe we should start already," I interrupted. Cheryl looked over at me.

"Did you know about this?" She asked. I shook my head before Evelyn took us to the student lounge. We were going to do some kind of meditation.

"Everything in your lives matters. There are universal truths within each of your personal experiences. A you inside of me, a me inside of you. In rehearsal, we are going to explore our own personal traumas and experiences and exercise them through our art," Evelyn tells us as we lied down next to one another with our eyes closed.

"All right, Cheryl, Adeline, Veronica, Betty, 'Candy Store,' set and costumes are ready. Go get changed," Kevin told us.

My outfit looked much similar to the musical one. I sat on the table since this was mainly Cheryl's character singing towards my character.

"So this number is about the Heathers's undeniable power. Each of you can get anything you want at any time. So really unleash that force," Kevin tells the three girls.

"We'll all start with some simple steps," Toni said, standing up.

"Yeah, we got it, thanks," Cheryl interrupted. I looked over at Veronica and Betty who looked back at me. I shrugged a

"Uh, Toni has some fantastic choreo," Kevin defended.

"How very. But my Heathers and I have already worked out our own choreography," Cheryl tells him.

"Come on, Cheryl. I'm trying to be professional here, can you not?" Toni asked her.

"Are we gonna have a problem?" Cheryl questioned before the music started.

After rehearsals, I started to question something. Why did we have to change the lyrics? Some of it didn't make sense. Like the word, doorknob. I didn't get it. I had to sing with Sweet Pea which I felt weird doing.

"Everyone, hi," we all looked over at Evelyn who stood on a desk. "Um, I know that cast parties are usually after opening night, but the Farm will be hosting a little get-together tonight at the former Sisters of Quiet Mercy... "

"Sweet."

"And, um, I know it may seem a little weird or methody, but come in costume."

Everyone seemed happy about the party. I looked over at Betty who didn't look happy. I walked down before standing next to Betty.

"I don't like this," I tell her.

"Me neither."

I had invited Beckham as my date. I helped him get dressed up in an 80's outfit to fit in. I giggled at his outfit as he looked more like Bender from the Breakfast Club.

"Do I need to dress up?" Beckham chuckled.

"Do it for me. Please," I asked nicely.

"Okay."

We went to the place where the party was. Archie and Josie had taken a separate car and had followed us.

"Well, given the night I've been having, I, for one, could use a libation, so... Salud," Veronica said before taking a shot.

"I'll take one," I heard.

"That's the spirit," Evelyn tells her. The DJ started to play Big Fun from the musical.

I leaned against a wall while Beckham stood in front of me. Beckham put a hand on the wall to lean on a little. I giggled at our position.

"A hot guy smiled at me; Without a trace of mockery! Brainiac cleans up all right; Adeline is hot tonight," I sang as Beckham smiled at me. Beckham leaned in to kiss me. We heard someone clear their throat making us look over. I saw Archie looking at us.

"Still a virgin, Archie," I tell him.

"I'm keeping an eye on you two," Archie warned us.

"Don't need a babysitter," I tell him.

"Yes you do," Archie said before getting pulled away by Josie. I looked at back at Beckham.

"I'm not going to push you further than you want, Adeline," Beckham tells me.

"I know. Thank you though," I said before kissing him again.
