Twenty Six

Adeline's P.O.V

I was cooking breakfast for dad and I before I had to go to school. I heard the door open and Vegas running inside. 

"Vegas!" I said excitedly as I bent down to pet him. I looked up to see Archie walk into the house and closed the door.

"Archie," Dad said before walking over to give him a hug.

"Hey, Dad. Hey, Adeline," Archie said. I noticed that Archie winced as dad hugged him. 

"What? What's wrong, son?" Dad asked Archie.

"It's a long story," Archie said.

"Let's have breakfast and you can tell us then," I tell Archie. 

I got breakfast ready for all of us as dad set up the table. I secretly gave Vegas a piece of bacon before putting the food down onto the table. That's when Archie told us what happened to him in the forest. 

"I don't remember the rangers finding me. I woke up in the hospital knowing that... I couldn't keep running. It was time to come home, back to a normal life, if that's even possible," Archie said. 

"It's still possible. You would just need to repeat junior year maybe," I say to him.

"What about Hiram?" Dad asked Archie. Archie let out a scoff.

"I survived a bear attack, Dad," Archie said.

"Which is a miracle. This feels like a TV show because looking at your structure, it should've been impossible to survive a bear attack," I tell Archie as I gave him a look. Archie nudged me a little making me smile. 

"I can't live my life in fear of when he might come after me anymore. To be honest, I'm more worried about him gunning for you and Adeline," Archie said.

"I survived the Black Hood. Twice. Hiram doesn't scare me. He's not the only one in this town with friends," Dad tells Archie.

"Me? Please, we all know if something happens to me, everyone riots," I tell them. I shivered a little from my narcissistic comment. It felt a little unreal of me.

"That's true. You're the only innocent person still in Riverdale," Archie said. I smiled at Archie. I missed having my brother back. Even though he can be a complete idiot sometimes.  

"What about Veronica? You reach out to her?" I asked Archie.

"Have you talked to her?" Archie asked me.

"Yeah. We've hung out a couple times while you've been gone," I tell him.

"That's good. Making new friends," Archie said. 

"You should go talk to her. She's been a little heartbroken since you've left," I tell him. 

"I will."

"I have to get to school," I said. 

"I'll drive you," Archie said.

"Okay," I smiled. 

We got in the truck before we drove off to school. I looked out the window as we drove off. 

"I missed you," I tell him.

"I missed you too, sis," Archie smiled.

"You missed a lot. Luckily, you have me to help you out," I said.

"I know I can always count on you," Archie said.

"Did you know your SAT's are this Saturday?" I asked.

"They are?" Archie asked in shock.

"Yeah."

"Crap," Archie said. I kept quiet a little.

"How are you and your boyfriend?" Archie asked me.

"We're great. We're great," I said. 

"You repeated. You repeat twice when you're not sure of something," Archie said.

"I don't," I defended. 

"Adeline. What happened with you and your boyfriend?" Archie asked me.

"I think I'm in love with Sweet Pea still," I admitted.

"What?"

"I know but something about him just makes me happy again like before," I tell him.

"Just be careful Adeline. I know that love can get really messy," Archie warned me. 

"I know and I will. Don't worry," I tell him.

"Well we're here," Archie said. 

"I'll see you after school," I tell him.

"Alright."

I saw Sweet Pea standing nearby making me frown a little. Sweet Pea looked over at me and just stared at me as well.

"Hey, babe," I felt arms wrapped around me making me look up. 

"Hi babe," I smiled at Beckham.

"Do you think you can help me study for the SAT's?" Beckham asked me.

"I actually have to help my brother with the SAT's as well. Archie came back home," I tell him.

"Woah really?" Beckham asked me.

"Yup."

"Can I study with you guys?" Beckham asked me.

"Of course," I nodded.

"It'll prep you up for your SAT's next year," Beckham pointed out.

"Um, I already took the SAT's," I said.

"What?" Beckham asked in confusion.

"I took them freshman year," I tell him.

"How?"

"I just did," I said shrugging. 

"You just did?" Beckham asked me.

"Yeah. I asked if I could take it and I did," I tell him. 

"You are even more amazing than ever," Beckham said before giving me a kiss.
