Thirty

Adeline's P.O.V

I sat in my room, doing some homework until I heard a tap on my window. I looked over to see someone on the tree that was right out my window. I walked over to see Sweet Pea sitting there. I quickly opened the window to talk to him.

"Sweet Pea? What the hell are you doing here?" I asked him.

"I needed to talk to you," Sweet Pea said.

"You could've knocked on the front door."

"I don't think your dad or brother would be happy to see me."

"You have a point there. Come in," I tell him before moving to the side so he could climb in. 

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Well, Josie and I had kinda called it quits officially," Sweet Pea told me.

"Officially? You guys were a thing?" 

"It was a fling but that's not the point. I really miss you, Adeline."

"If you missed me, you wouldn't have come up here to tell me that the two of you officially called it quits," I tell him.

"Adeline. I just need a friend right now," Sweet Pea told me. I nodded before sitting down on my bed. Sweet Pea sat on my desk chair. 

"So, what are your plans now?" I asked.

"I don't know. Maybe do what I already planned when I was with you. Study hard, get into a good college, get a degree, get a job. Move out from here," Sweet Pea said.

"Sounds good. You deserve to have a good life."

"After what I did to you, I don't feel like I deserve it."

I looked over at Sweet Pea with a frown. Yes he was a cheater but he did deserve to have a good future.

"Sweet Pea. You deserve it. You've been working hard ever since I met you. I've forgiven you already about you cheating on me," I tell Sweet Pea in all truth. 

"You have?"

"Yeah."

Sweet Pea smiled at me. I smiled back at him before looking down a little.

"Thanks for letting me talk about all this," Sweet Pea told me.

"No problem. Come on. You're leaving from the front door," I tell him. Sweet Pea chuckled before we started to head off. 

I walked out to the porch with Sweet Pea. I saw his motorcycle parked in front of my house. I looked up at him as Sweet Pea had his hands in his pocket. 

"I'll see you at school?" I asked him.

"Yeah."

"You know, you're more than welcome to sit next to me and Beckham," I tell him.

"Thanks but the Serpents are at a low rate at the moment so I need to support them as much as possible."

"No worries."

"Bye, Adeline," Sweet Pea said.

"Bye, Sweet Pea," I smiled. 

Sweet Pea and I stared into each others eyes before he started leaning into me. I felt like leaning in as well but I turned my head away. 

"It's getting cold. I should probably head inside," I quietly tell him.

"Yeah. Goodnight, Adeline."

"Goodnight Sweet Pea."

I watched him leave the porch before getting on his motorcycle. I walked inside my house before locking up the front door. I sighed in disbelief on what happened. Twice had I almost kissed him. Why me? What did I do to deserve these confusing feelings?
