Tia pov
I had been calling Dave all morning, trying to check in on him. He told me he had some "business" to handle, but that was at like... 3:00 a.m. After the tenth unanswered call, I gave up. If he wanted space, he could have it—for now. I wasn't about to blow up his phone all day.
Instead, I decided to head over to Ki's spot and get my nails done. I needed something to take my mind off him, even if it was just for an hour.
As soon as I walked in, Ki lit up like always.
"Heyyy, baby!" she said, arms wide with a smile that made it impossible to stay in a mood.
"Hi, love," I replied, leaning in for a quick hug before settling into her chair.
We got comfortable, and she started working on my nails.
"So," Ki said, filing expertly, "you know me and Chris been chillin' lately."
I perked up. "Aww, do you like him?"
Ki gave me that bashful little smile she always tries to hide behind her lashes. "Girl, yes! His fine ass. He play too much though."
I laughed. "Oh, trust me, I already know. He stay cutting up."
Right then, my phone started buzzing back to back. I didn't even have to look to know it was Dave. Typical—he wanted to call when it was convenient for him.
"Hold on, Ki," I said, answering the FaceTime.
The screen lit up with his face. Damn, he looked good. Shirtless, blunt between his fingers, eyes low. I'm too blessed, honestly.
"Damn," he said, flashing that half-smile. "You looking good."
"You forgot how to answer the phone?" I snapped, folding my lips to keep from grinning.
"What I tell you last night when I left?" he asked, dragging on the blunt.
"That you were gonna be busy and wasn't gonna be able to answer."
"So why you bugging, mama?" he said, eyes narrowing just a little with that cocky smirk.
God, he had me wrapped. But still, I wasn't letting him off easy.
"Because I know you been back home. Stop fuckin' with me."
Dave leaned back, eyes locked on mine through the screen. "You be wanting me to fuck you up, huh?"
I rolled my eyes so hard they almost got stuck. "Dave. Stop playin'. Answer the damn question."
"Yes, baby, I just finished," he said, then shouted over his shoulder, "Ayy Jason, stop playin', bitch!"
I could hear his boys in the background, clownin' as usual.
"Bye, Dave," I said, annoyed.
"Play with me if you want to. I'll be at Ki spot quick," he warned, that tone in his voice sending chills up my spine in the best way.
"She's still working on me. I'll come to your house when I can," I told him, trying to keep my cool.
"Heard ju."
"You mad?"
"I'm good. Do you."
"Are you serious?"
"Ain't no when you can—bring yo ass here once you finish your nails."
I smirked. "Okay, baby."
"Mhmm."
The call ended.
Ki shook her head, laughing. "I love y'all so much it's sick."
