Tia's POV
"He's big mad at me," I sighed into the phone, plopping down on the bed. "He hasn't said anything to me in days except 'yo food downstairs,' and that's only when I don't cook."
Brandy was on the other end of the line, silent for a second before responding.
"Girl... just give him time. What you pulled was unnecessary. I'm not taking his side, but I love Dave for you, and he's a good guy. You're a good woman too—but y'all both gotta tighten up. I'm not about to be no 'yes man,' and you better not be one for me either."
I sighed again, rolling onto my back. "I know, best friend... but I don't even feel like it was that bad. I just didn't answer the phone... and went out."
Brandy laughed a little, but it wasn't out of amusement.
"Listen to yourself. You ignored his calls because you were in your feelings, and then you dipped without saying a word. Come on, bestie. Don't be one-sided."
"Okay, okay," I murmured. "I get his side. But he won't even talk to me. Like... he's really not talking to me."
I didn't realize I was crying until the tears slid down the sides of my face.
"Oh my God—you crying? Oh yeah, you're in love with that man. Crazy," Brandy teased, her tone softening.
"I know. I don't know what's wrong with me... it's like I'm so selfish when it comes to him. And come on—it's Dave. King of Cali and New York. Every bitch want him, and I'm not having it."
"That's exactly why you were blowing up his phone, huh?" Brandy said knowingly. "But stop letting that insecurity get in your way. Dave's not out here cheating. He's always been one hundred with you. Just trust it."
"I'm trying," I whispered. "He told me he had to leave but never said where. And yeah, we're not officially together, but my emotions got the best of me."
"I get it, boo," Brandy said. "But let's be honest. Dave is whipped over you."
I sniffled, letting out a tiny laugh. "Well, according to him, I'm the one that's dick whipped."
"Wait—he said that?!" she burst into laughter. "Oh, I'm screaming. He ain't lying, though."
I rolled my eyes, grinning. "I am. I don't care. He shouldn't fuck me so good and eat me so good. That man got me craving him at the most inappropriate times. He's blessed."
"Ahhhhh, freak bitch bestie!" Brandy howled.
I laughed hard, finally feeling a little lighter. "You're so annoying. Ima let you go—you done heard enough of my venting."
"I love you, crazy."
"I love you more."
We hung up.
A few minutes later, the smell of weed crept into the room. Dave must've been home. I glanced up from my notes as he walked in—looking like a snack, of course. My heart skipped.
He was already on the phone.
"Nah, I just got to my crib... I'm in for the night... it's not about that, I just don't feel like hitting the strip," he said into the phone. "If I change my mind, I'll let you know, Izzy."
Click.
That was it. No glance. No Hey, Tia. Just vibes and distance. I couldn't take this anymore. I needed to do something—anything—to get his attention.
I started packing.
But I didn't even get far before his voice cut through the silence.
"Where the fuck you going?"
"Home," I said, not even turning to look at him. "You don't want me here."
"Did I tell you that?"
"You don't have to. Your actions say it."
"Put that shit down and finish studying. Don't nobody care about your attitude."
I turned to face him, eyes burning. "No. I'm not staying here with you treating me this way."
"I dare you to leave," he said, stepping closer. His dark, thick eyebrows were pulled together, and that look... it always did something to me.
"And if I do?" I challenged.
"Try me."
I couldn't explain the power he had over me—even when I hated him the most, all I wanted was him. He drove me mad, but he was home.
"Dave, stop. Why can't I go? If you don't wanna talk to me—"
"Because I fucking said so, Tia," he snapped. "Yeah, I'm pissed, so I'm not talking to you. But I'm in love with you. I want you here. I missed you the whole six days we were apart, so no—your ass is staying right here."
My heart melted.
"Okay," I whispered, blinking back more tears. "And I'm sorry, David. I didn't mean to show out like that. I won't pull that shit again. You're right. I am dick whipped—fuck it. And you're whipped too. It's scary being this in love with you. I don't want no bitch near you. I'm selfish about you."
He pulled me close. "Tia, I'm the same way about you. But I trust you. I know you not out here making me look crazy. I expect the same."
"I do, Papi," I said softly.
"Then act like it, ma."
He kissed me then—really kissed me—and all the space between us vanished.
His lips moved to my neck, and I moaned as he gently tugged on my hair, exposing more of my skin. Before I knew it, we were in the bedroom, and he was undressing me slowly, deliberately.
He kissed down my body, his lips brushing over every inch like he was trying to make up for lost time. I felt him at my thighs—warm, wet, and gentle—and then—
"Oh my God, David," I cried out, gripping the sheets.
He didn't stop. He didn't even slow down. He worshipped me.
I came hard and fast, and he licked me clean, taking his time. Then, he slid in—slowly, carefully—and my breath caught.
"Fuck," he grunted. "Feels like the first time all over again. Hold on."
He let me adjust before he started moving. Deep, slow strokes at first. Then chaos.
"I love you," he whispered in my ear as he pumped into me. "You hear me?"
"Yes, baby," I moaned. "I hear you."
"You gonna stop wilding on me?"
"I—I am. I'm sorry, baby."
He gripped my hips tighter, rolling his own as we moved in sync.
"I wanna have your babies," I gasped. "Dave, give me all your babies, please."
He chuckled low. "That's that dick talk, baby."
"I don't care," I moaned. "I'm coming—fuck!"
He pushed harder, faster, until I couldn't take it anymore. We came together, his moans mixing with mine.
When he slid out, he kissed me all over, holding me close.
"Now yo ass need to stop acting crazy," he murmured.
I just smiled.
Because let's be honest—I wasn't about to stop.
