Tia – POV
I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning to an empty bed—no Dave. You can imagine how pissed I was. He didn't wake me, didn't leave a note, not even a damn text message. Nothing.
Kairi's back with her mom for the month. Dave got tired of hearing her complain, so he agreed to let her stay with her. That left me alone in the house, stewing in silence.
Now it's 8 a.m., and I'm on my way to the shop. Maybe this man will call me—maybe not.
I got dressed and headed out. First stop: food. Y'all already know I had to grab me some Popeyes. After that, I pulled up to my shop.
The moment I walked in, I was greeted by my girls.
"Hey, everybody."
I headed to my office, sat down, opened my food, and started munching while tackling some paperwork.
Incoming FaceTime: Bestfriend.
I answered. "Hey, B."
Brandy's face popped up on the screen. "Hey, girl. Wassup with you?"
"Yo stupid brother is off somewhere, and I have no idea where. I'm so sick of him leaving out in the middle of the night like I don't exist."
Brandy chuckled. "Aww, B. East probably had business to handle."
"He knows to notify me. I'm over it."
"Relax, Tia. That's your hormones talking."
"You know how I come—hormones or not, Brandy."
"I know. I just want you to relax, B."
"It's too late for that. He needs to stop leaving me in the middle of the night. And I'm pregnant!"
"I know, I'm sorry. I'ma have to curse my brother out. Ugh."
"It's cool. He better keep that same energy."
Brandy laughed. "You so crazy, Tia. Just like me."
I laughed too. "Girl, I swear."
Right then, Dave's name flashed across the screen—FaceTime.
I rolled my eyes. "B, let me call you right back. This man calling me now."
"Be nice, B."
"Yeah, alright."
She laughed as I hit 'accept.'
Dave's face appeared. "Where you at?"
"That's the first thing you say to me?"
"Yeah, 'cause you not at home."
"And what does that mean?"
"I need to know where you at."
I narrowed my eyes. "Is that a fucking joke, David? Did I know where you were since 3 a.m. this morning?"
He sighed. "Rose."
He said my middle name like that was supposed to calm me down.
"Lawrence," I snapped back, hitting him with his.
He looked high. Now I was really annoyed.
"I see what type of time we on today, ma," he said.
"You damn right. Now drop your details. What were you doing from 3 a.m. to now—10 a.m.?"
"Man, where you at?"
"Bye, Dave. You got me fucked up."
I hung up.
