Dave – POV

Lately, I'd been running non-stop—linking with connects, setting things up, making sure my moves stayed ten steps ahead. But through it all, one thing kept eating at me: I hadn't been able to talk to Tia like I wanted. And honestly? That shit was messing with me more than I cared to admit.

Tia had just started working at this salon. She told me she didn't want to keep doing hair out the house, wanted something more official. What she didn't know was—once she finished school—I already had it lined up for her. A whole setup. Car, shop, keys, everything. Ready. Waiting. She just didn't know it yet.

I missed her.

So I pulled up on her.

The bell above the shop door jingled as I stepped inside. The smell of hair products and heat filled the space—flat irons snapping, dryers humming, low chatter buzzing in the background.

And then I saw her.

Tia looked up and gave me that look. The one that always did something to me. That mix of surprise and attitude, soft eyes that could cut and comfort at the same time. She didn't smile—but her lips curved just enough for me to know she was glad I was there.

And just like that, everything I'd been carrying all day got a little bit lighter.

Dave – POV

When I walked into the shop, Tia looked up, that smile already softening my mood.

"Hey, baby. What you doing here?" she asked, brushing hair from her face, trying to act like she wasn't just as happy to see me.

I didn't answer right away. Just gave her a look and smirked. "So this what we wearing to work now?" I teased, walking up and pulling her into a hug. I kissed her slow and deep, my hand finding her ass like it belonged there—which it did.

The other stylists started laughing and cooing. "Awww," one of them said, but I wasn't playing with Tia. Not today.

She smacked my chest. "Stop tripping, Papi. I'm almost done. Then you can take me to lunch," she said with a sweet little grin.

I sat in the waiting area while she finished up. The women in the shop kept sneaking looks at me, whispering like I couldn't hear them. I didn't care. My eyes were on Tia, and only her.

Finally, she was done. I stood and grabbed her hand like it was second nature.

"I'll be back, Nora. Going to lunch," she called out over her shoulder.

"Okay, girl. Bye!" Nora replied, waving her off.

I held the door for Tia, smacked her ass on the way out, and she gave me that fake annoyed look she always did.

"How's your day going, baby?" I asked once we got outside.

"Good—now that I get to see you," she said, sliding her arm around mine.
