Tia's POV

"Ki, get your ugly-ass feet off my table," I said, nudging her legs with mine.

Ki rolled her eyes. "You know what? Keep on. I'm gonna leave you here listening to sad music, thinking about East."

I smirked. "Girl, please—you'd be doing the same thing. You hate being alone more than I do."

"You right," she admitted. "Anyway, we going out tonight."

"That's cool with me," I said, grabbing my phone. "Let me call Brandy and see what she's on."

I hit her up on FaceTime.

"Hey, love," Brandy answered, smiling.

"Hey, where you at?" I asked, squinting at her background.

"Ugh, out with Jason," she said, clearly trying to play it cool.

Ki's eyes lit up. "Ooo, this hoe playing it crazy."

Brandy laughed. "Shut up, Ki. We just friends."

I tilted my head. "Mmmhmm. Do yo man know you out with your friend?"

"Yes, child."

Ki snorted. "No, he doesn't. Stop all that lyin'."

Brandy waved us off. "What do y'all want?"

"Come out tonight."

She glanced over at Jason.

"Wait," I said, leaning forward. "I know you didn't just hit him with the 'let me check first' look."

"Shut up, Tia! Yeah, I'm coming. Club Blue?"

"Yup. Club Blue. See you later."

"Alright, bye y'all."

"Bye," Ki added as the call ended.

I gave Ki a look. "She thinks she slick. I know they got something going on."

Ki nodded. "Girl, I been on that. They always sneaking off together."

"They a mess," I said, laughing.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you!" Ki sat up straight. "So, the other day I'm at Chris' crib—right?"

"Mmhmm."

"We talking about my attitude. I'm tellin' him I'ma work on it. Then boom—a knock at the door. He goes downstairs, but something tells me to follow."

"Oh, bitch..."

"Girl, why was it some chick at the door? Brown-skinned, blonde weave, mad as hell."

"Wait, what? Who?"

"I don't know her. But she saw me and said, 'Who's this bitch?'"

"Ohhh, yeah? I got your bitch."

"That's why we friends! I said the same thing."

"I'm dead," I laughed.

"Chris told me to go back upstairs, said she was some girl he used to mess with. She started goin' off like, 'Oh, I'm just some girl now after you was blowing my back out?' He said, 'You was still some girl I messed with.'"

I nearly choked laughing. "I'm screaming."

"She started poppin' off, I popped off right back. Chris had to push her out the house. I went back to his room heated. He followed like, 'You don't have to prove nothin'. You mine.'"

"Aww, I love y'all together. He got you on lock."

"I know," she grinned. "That's my baby."

We both fell silent, scrolling through social media until Dave FaceTimed me. As usual, he was smoking.
