Tia – Two Weeks Later

"Okay, David, you need to be here by two o'clock. We still gotta drop the kids off."

"I already told you I'm gonna be there at three," he said, voice full of that same casual attitude that drove me crazy. "You know I had some business to handle."

"And you know we already had this trip planned. You deadass being ignorant right now."

"You heard what I said."

Click.

I hung up.

Dave could be so childish sometimes, bruh. We'd had this couples' trip to Bora Bora planned for a minute. Finally, today was the day. We were supposed to be at the PJ by 3 PM—everyone agreed on that time months ago. And now this nigga was pulling this shit?

He knows how much I hate being late or holding people up. Their time is important too. And we still needed to drop the kids off to my mama's. She already had Izabelle from last night, and I didn't want her dealing with getting four kids out the car alone. Plus, Corey was on his senior trip in Myrtle Beach—a whole situation he wasn't even supposed to be on, but I let it slide.

I was trying to keep calm.

"Where Dada, Mommy?" Kairi asked, looking up at me with her big eyes.

"He out right now, baby. What's wrong?"

"I can't reach my doll. It's at the top of the closet."

"Mommy tall—I can get it."

"Not as tall as my Daddy," she giggled.

I gave her a side-eye and smirked. "Alright now, come on girl."

She followed me, still giggling.

In her room, I stretched up and grabbed the doll off the shelf.

"Girls, take your stuff and go to the living room," I called out.

"Otay!" Kenzie chirped.

"Okay," Kairi echoed.

I gathered Easton's stuff, set it in the living room, and laid him down on the couch beside his sisters. Then I headed back to the kitchen and leaned against the island counter.

Group Chat: Friendship Tings

Ki: Where you at, slut?

Kim: Exactly.

Brandy: Being nasty probably.

Me: Waiting on Dave dumb ass.

Ki: Ooo he in trouble.

Brandy: Y'all know Tia hate being late.

Kim: Mhm. Where my brother at?

Me: I have no clue. He's being real inconsiderate and it's driving me nuts.

Kim: He'll get there. Relax.

Me: I'm trying.

Dave could be very inconsiderate with time. He doesn't care about anyone else's schedule. He moves when Dave East feels like moving. That's how he's always been. And I wasn't even mad that we were running behind—it was the principle. Why wait until the last damn minute when we had plans?

Dumbass.

I poured myself another glass of wine. No sense in rushing now—it was already 2:40.

By 3:00, I heard the front door open.
