They have been best friends for...
I stared at my phone, heat rising in my chest. He was really ignoring my calls like I was some random.
Stop acting like you don't see my fucking calls, Christopher. I will pull up, I had messaged.
He finally responded. Chill the fuck out. I'm busy—just like you were all last week.
Typical Chris. Always quick to get in his feelings. He'd been on one all week just because I said I wasn't ready for a relationship yet. But he knew how I felt about him. I loved that man for real. I didn't want anybody else.
Still, he was acting like I was the villain.
Whatever. I was done texting. I was going over there.
I got dressed without another thought, throwing on a hoodie and leggings, sliding my feet into my Crocs. I grabbed my keys, checked his location real quick—yup, still at home—and headed out the door.

I pulled up to Chris's house, already knowing he was there because I checked his location. Bully and East's cars were outside too.
I used my key to get in, headed straight for the game room—because where else would they be? As soon as I walked in, Brandy rushed up to hug me.
"Babyyy! Looking good as shit."
"Hey baby, and thank you." I smiled, eyes gliding to Chris.
He barely looked up, still locked in on the game.
"Wassup, sis," Dave said.
"Hey, East."
Bully nodded. "Wassup, slime?"
"Wassup, slime." That was our thing. Me and Bully always called each other that.
I walked up to Chris and stood right in front of him.
"Can we talk, my guy?"
"I know you see me playing the game, right?"
"And I don't care. I asked nicely—it won't be nice the second time."
"Man, I'm playing the game."
Dave laughed. "You losing anyway."
Brandy and Bully were cracking up too. I was not in the mood for games.
"Just come talk to me in your room."
"Tia and Kairi in there sleep. Come to the guest room."
Dave added, "Don't be too loud. My babies sleep."
Chris threw something at him before leading me to the guest room. He closed the door behind us and leaned against the dresser.
I stood in front of him.
"What, Ki? And why you got this shit on, showing my shit?"
"Well, you haven't been acting like this your shit lately."
