Tia POV

I woke up and slipped into the shower, letting the warm water rinse away the sleep still clinging to my body. Dave had gotten up before me and showered too—but somewhere between drying off and getting dressed, he'd managed to fall right back asleep.

After I got dressed, I walked over to the bed and climbed on top of him, gently touching his eyelids with my fingertips.

His voice came out low and groggy. "Yes, Tia?"

"Get up so I can go get you a new couch," I said, brushing his cheek with the back of my hand.

He cracked one eye open, frowning slightly. "I never said you had to buy me one, Tia."

"But I'm going to," I replied simply. "So get up."

His eyes opened fully this time, and he gave me that confused little squint he always did when I disrupted his sleep. Still, he sighed and sat up, dragging himself out of bed to get dressed.

"Come on," Dave said, nodding toward the door.

I looked him up and down, biting my lip. "Ooo, you looking good, pa."

He smirked, sliding his arm around my waist. "You looking good too, ma."

We gave each other that look. The kind that said if we didn't move fast, we'd end up back upstairs.

"Come on," I said, smirking. "Before we fuck each other's brains out."

Dave burst out laughing.

We finally made it downstairs, and Corey was standing there, ready to talk to Dave.

"Not now, Corey," Dave said flatly.

"But unc, I'm sorry for real—T, tell him," Corey pleaded, looking at me for help.

"Corey," I said gently, "just give him a minute. Let him cool off, alright?"

"Tia, let's go," Dave said, brushing past both of us.

We walked out and got into his all-white Range Rover.

"Dave, you gotta talk to him," I said as I buckled my seatbelt.
