They have been best friends for...
I had been with Britney earlier today when Mia started blowing up my phone. Call after call, back-to-back texts. I didn't mean to ignore her, but I knew I owed her more of an explanation than I even gave Britney.
Thing is... Britney and I aren't together right now. It's not that I don't care about her—I just don't want to mislead her while I'm still trying to figure out what I really want. We've always stayed loyal to each other, even when we're not officially locked in. But right now, I'm in this weird space, and it's not fair to either of them.
Mia FaceTimed me again.
This time, I picked up.

"Wassup, baby? What you pouting for?"
"Why you not answering my calls?"
"I was with Britney. Relax."
She rolled her eyes. "You still could've picked up."
"You right. That's my fault, baby."
She softened a little. "What's going on with your head?"
"I ain't even brushed it yet."
"What you doing today?"
"Chilling. What you doing today?"
"Wanted to hang with you, but you might be with your little girlfriend."
"You funny. I don't got one. You might be with that lame ass nigga, though."
"Boy, bye. You always calling whoever I talk to lame."
I laughed. "'Cause they are. Spend the night over here. We'll go to school from my place."
"Alright. Let me pack. You picking me up?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too."
I got ready and headed to pick her up. When I pulled up in front of her house, I called from the car.
"Bring yo ass."
"Come in," she said.
"Mia..."
"Corey..."
"Is the door unlocked?"
"Yes."
I cut the car off and went inside. I spoke to her parents out of respect, then headed up to her room. She was in her panties and bra, packing her clothes, which didn't faze me at all. We'd always been that comfortable. She walk around in her panties, I walk around in my drawers—it's never been weird.
I smacked her ass. "Wassup?"
"Hey. Hold on, I'm trying to find my school clothes."
