Dave the type of guy who would give his last to a stranger because he never wanna see a soul struggle that's what Tia loved about him the most he is husband material and if you was to ask Dave Tia was wife material
They have been best friends for...
I sat on the couch with a half-empty glass of wine in my hand, my legs curled beneath me, the soft scent of setting spray still lingering in the air. I had just finished a client's makeup—a soft glam look for her birthday dinner—and now that the brushes were cleaned and my kit was zipped shut, there was nothing left to distract me from the one thing dominating my mind.
Jason.
He did something to me, something I couldn't even put into words. I've known him as long as I've known Dave. Met him not long after Dave came to town, since the two of them clicked instantly—like brothers. And me? I somehow fell into that circle.
Jason and I... we were tight. Tighter than we should've been, if I'm being real. It wasn't just friendly. Not anymore. There was this energy between us, thick and charged like the air before a storm. A pull I kept pretending not to feel.
What the fuck am I gonna do?
I was used to Don doing him—out late, sneaky texts, shady behavior. I'd mastered the art of pretending not to care. But now? I was doing me... and me wanted Jason in ways I hadn't wanted anyone in a long time.
Just as the thought settled in, my phone lit up in my lap.
Incoming FaceTime Call: Jason.
Of course. Speak of the devil.
I hesitated for a beat, my heart racing before I hit accept.

"How you doing today, ma?"
"I'm good," I replied, sipping my wine. "What about you?"
"I'm good. I see you got your little wine—what you stressing about?"
Yes, baby, I'm stressing. Come release me. I screamed the words in my head but didn't let them pass my lips. Jason always saw right through me, though. He understood me better than anyone else ever had—except Tia.
"I'm not stressing," I told him. "I'm good, just relaxing."
"I'm trying to see you today."
"You know Don still around, Jason."
He didn't say a word, just gave me that cold, straight face.
"So you at my crib all night," he finally said, "and still laid up with dude?"
"Don't even try that, Bully," I said, calling him by his nickname. "I told you I'm trying. He be doing the most, always dodging the topic when I bring it up."
"I don't care. I still need to see you. So what you gone do?"
