~ Chapter 11 ~
I felt bad for not going up to comfort Dawson before I left but Mai was with him so I felt like that was all he needed at the moment. I guess I felt a bit unworthy because I didn't really say or do much. Mai was the real MVP there. I promised myself that after the party, I would go check up on him. My plans for that night were simple; I wanted to have so much fun that I forgot about home for a while.
I had my music blasting with my windows down under the night summer sky. The street lights ran past my car while the cool breeze ran past my face. My car soon stopped and so did everything else. I sat in my car for a moment before I decided to get out.
I walked up to the door of the pretty big house and walked inside. The music was loud but it wasn't as loud as I expected. It was low enough to not get complaints from annoying old neighbors but loud enough to get the people dancing.
There were girls twerking, guys watching like hungry dogs, people chatting in a corner with red cups in their hands, some people were smoking on the couch and a few were just sitting and eating.
As I walked through the plethora of bodies, I tried looking for Kabelo. I was taller than most of the people at the party so I was easily able to look over them all.
"Hey, Alvin!" He exclaimed.
I turned around and he pulled me into a hug. His head was practically on my chest and as I wrapped my arms around him, I could smell his cologne and it smelled really good.
"You smell nice. What are you wearing?"
"I won't tell."
"Aw, come on!"
He pretended to zip his lips and throw the key over me but I just pretended that I caught the key and then I brought my fingers to his lips. I expected him to jump away or try to stop me but he just let me put the imaginary key to his lips and unzip them.
"Now, you have to tell me and you're not getting your key back."
"Well, fine. Keep the key but the secret is not coming out."
I sighed and just shook my head. "So what have you been doing?"
"Actually, I just got here."
"Who's party is this?"
He grabbed my wrist. "Follow me."
I followed. He said excuse me about twenty thousand times when I would've just pushed past them. It was a party filled with young adults and teens who knew they weren't supposed to be there but they looked the age so they managed to blend in quite well. After all that walking, he led me into the kitchen and to a girl with long wavy hair and light brown skin.
"Camila!" She turned around and smiled. "This is the guy I was telling you about."
I smiled and extended my hand to her. She looked me up and down before she took my hand with a smile. She tried to be slick about it but I seen her mouth that I was cute. It made me smile, I'm not going to lie. I couldn't help but think that she was cute too. She was fine at that.
"Nice to meet you," she said. Her Latina accent was even sexier. Her eyes danced between me and Kabelo and then a smirk appeared on her face. "You guys want to play a game?"
"Uh, n-no, I think we're g-"
"Yeah, I'm down."
Kabelo immediately looked at me like I was making the worst decision of my life. "Wait, no! You don't know Camila like I do and-"
"You two wait for me in the guest room. I'm going to gather up a few other people so we can get started."
"No," Kabelo chirped.
"Sounds good to me."
Camila excitedly walked off. I just stared at where she once stood for a moment and smiled before I turned to Kabelo. "This is going to be fun, I'm sure."
Kabelo sighed. "This is probably going to be the worse night of my life." He walked away from me.
"Wait up."
Man, he moved fast. He maneuvered through the crowd like it was no problem. Meanwhile, I was tripping over people, moving some people out of my way, crashing into people, I even almost fell over some guy's shoe.
"Aye, bro! Watch where the hell you're going or else I'll scuff your face like you probably just did to my shoes." He was a tad bit shorter than me. His eyes were dark and so was his hair that was in a ponytail. I could tell he was pretty messed up from the drink in his cup.
"It was an accident. Don't need to make a big deal about it."
"It is a big deal!" He shouted as he chucked his cup passed me. A group of girls screamed and called him an asshole but he was too busy stepping up to me to notice. "These shoes are a big deal! I spent over 800$ for these hoes!" His face was twisted up and his fists were clenching. "I bet your ass couldn't even afford these with your broke ass!" He was almost in my personal space.
"You better stop right there."
"Or what? You're going to fuck me up?" He took a step closer to me and puffed up his chest. I looked down at him and I could feel the temperature rising within. I was ready to knock him off his feet. I just needed him to tell me to do it and I was going to do it.
The room got a bit quiet and that's when I noticed a bunch of people surrounded us. Some staring with excitement and others with their phones out with their annoying flash on that shined in my face.
"Do-" I lifted my fist. "it!"
He pushed me and I swung but stopped when I noticed that Kabelo stepped in front of me to push that guy onto his ass. The crowd reacted with a bunch of "Oh damn!" and other simple "Ooooh," reactions.
"Stay back, Jace!" Kabelo threatened.
His fists were clenched and I could see his forearm muscles flexed. Man, I couldn't help it but I had this warm feeling in my chest.
Jace stood up and got into Kabelo's face. "Or what?"
"Don't forget. With all these phones out and all these people around, I could ruin your whole fucking life so don't try me and keep your hands off my friend." Kabelo pushed him and then made his way through the crowd to go back to his walk.
Jace glared at me before he quickly made his way out of the house.
I wasn't gay but man was that fucking hot! Ashley was going to love this guy.
