~Day 302~

It seemed like hours since Rick and the others had left, and during that time Rebecca spent it checking up on Lori or keeping an eye on Carl who stood watch by the gate.

She was now in Lori's cell, easing her nerves because she was clearly worried about her and the baby's wellbeing. She was in the middle of doing breathing exercises with Lori to calm her mind down when suddenly the two heard heavy footsteps followed by the sound of yelling.

"Open the door!"

Rebecca sprung up from Lori's bed and ran out of the cell, stopping at the top of the stairs, looking down at the commotion.

"It's Hershel!" she heard Rick yell making her run down the stairs. "Carl! Open that door now!" she orders as Carl immediately takes out a set of keys and opens the door just in time for Rick and the group to wheel in a bloody Hershel.

Rebecca's eyes widens at the sight as she took in the sight of a bloody Hershel who was now missing a leg. She put the pieces together and knew that he must have been bitten, causing the group to chop his leg off to prevent it the infection from spreading.

"Get him in here!" Rebecca orders as Rick and the others turn the metal table around and push it into an empty cell. "Get him on the bed," she said immediately pushing her sleeves up and throwing her hair up into a messy ponytail.

"He got bit," Daryl tells Rebecca as the group lifted Hershel's frail body onto the bed carefully and backed away. Once they were out of her way, Rebecca kneels down onto the floor before peeling away the bandages, causing the blood to pour out of the open wound. Rebecca quickly took some sheets and placed them over the wound to try and stop the bleeding.

"I need bandages!"

"We used everything we had," Glenn tells her as she turns her head to him. "Well, get more. Anything." Rebecca says getting frustrated that the bleeding wouldn't stop. Lori who was standing next to Rebecca turns to her son. "Carl, go get the towels from the back, right next to my bed."

"Is he gonna die?" Beth asks making Lori shake her head as she place her hands on Beth's cheeks. "No, no. He's gonna be okay." she tells her.

Rick kneels down next to Rebecca. "You think you can stabilize him?" "I need to keep his leg elevated," she tells him before turning to Carol. "Get some pillows," she tells her as Carol stands up and runs out of the cell.

"He's already bled through the sheets." Maggie points out and Rebecca took notice in that too. "We can burn the wound to clot the blood. I can start a fire," Glenn suggests but Rebecca shakes her head. "No, the shock could kill him," Rebecca tells him as Carl and Carol run back in with the supplies she needed for Hershel.

Carl hands the towels to his mom who immediately applies it to the wound, putting pressure on it while Carol elevated his leg for Rebecca. "It's not gonna stop the arteries from bleeding. We need to keep it dressed and let it heal on its own." she tells the group.

As she continued on applying pressure to the wound along with Lori and Carol, a loud voice echoed through the prison. "Hey, this is my house, my rules. I go where I damn well please!"

The group turns to the noise, wondering who had said that. "What was that?" Rebecca asks. "Prisoners, survivors," Rick tells her. "What?" she asks making Rick place a hand on her shoulder. "It's all right," he then turns to the group. "Everybody stay put." Rick says before leaving the cell.

After a little while, the bleeding finally began to slow down, as Rebecca continued on working to save Hershel's life while Lori and Carol helped her.
