[07]: Grimes Family Reunion

~Day 60~

Rick drives the Ferenc cube van back to camp as the sun sets. 

"Best not to dwell on it. Merle got left behind. Nobody's gonna be sad he didn't come back," Morales said to Rick. 

"Expect maybe Daryl," Rebecca spoke out loud.

Rick glanced back at Rebecca before shifting his eyes back onto the road. "Daryl? Who is he?"

"His brother."

Glenn speeds past Rick and the others on their way out of town.

"WHOO-HOO!" 

Rebecca giggles quietly while Morales just shakes his head, "At least somebody's having a good day."

"Drive straight up the hill."

Rick nodded as he followed Rebecca's directions on how to get to their camp. "Look, there's Glenn," Rebecca pointed as she saw Glenn smile at them.

Rick parks the van and immediately, Andrea, Jacqui, T-Dog and Morales get out while Rebecca and Rick stay in the van. Rebecca smiles as she watches Andrea share an emotional reunion with her sister Amy.

She turns to Rick and pats his arm. "Come meet everybody," she said before getting out of the van.  

Carl watches Morales hold his daughter and hug his wife. It reminded him of how happy he would be when his dad came home. Carl looks down and could feel a tear running down his cheek. He heard a door open and looked up.

He gasped as he saw Rebecca step out of the truck with her trusty crossbow, slung across her back.

"Becca!" Carl cried as he ran straight towards her. Rebecca's smile grew wider as she knelt down and opened her arms. Carl ran into her arms and hugged her. Rebecca let out a laugh as she hugged him back. 

She pulled away, "I never break my promises." Carl smiled back before looking over at Morales again. Carl's smile faded as the thought of his dad came rushing back into his mind. He began to cry.

"Hey, buddy," Rebecca said softly as Carl turned towards her again, "I know you miss your dad but guess what?" Carl sniffed, "What?" "Your dad is still here...in your heart. You can't ever forget him." Carl nodded and hugged Rebecca again.

Lori stood a distance away, her eyes watering at the sight of Rebecca and Carl. She liked how Rebecca had been good with Carl. 

Rebecca pulled away from Carl and noticed Lori softly smiling at her. Rebecca softly smiled back and looked at Carl again. "Why don't you go over to your mom?" "We'll hang out later, right?" Carl asked her. Rebecca nodded, "Of course we will." "Good," Carl said before walking over to his mom.

"You are a welcome sight," Dale said to Morales as they hugged. "I thought we had lost you folks for sure." "How'd y'all get out of there anyway?" Shane asked, his curiosity getting the best of him.

Rebecca stood up and brushed the dirt of her knees, "New guy. He got us out." Rebecca told Shane as she walked over to Glenn and the two shared a brief hug.

Rebecca's eyes then trailed over the red sports car.

"New guy, huh?" Shane asked, bringing Rebecca's attention back on him. Rebecca nodded. "Yeah, crazy Vato just got into town," said Morales as he turned towards the van. "Hey, helicopter boy! Come say hello!" 

Rick walks forward slowly, a sad unsure look on his face.

Morales turned back to Shane, "The guy's a cop like you."
