~Day 319~
The sound of low snarls filled Rebecca's ears as she; Daryl, Rick and Hershel were standing by the fence where a couple of walkers were pressing their faces up against, desperate to get a taste of them.
"It's the only way," Rick spoke as Rebecca kept her gaze on the walkers. "No one else knows."
"You gonna tell 'em?" Daryl spoke up from beside Rebecca. Rick shook his head. "Not till after. We have to do it today. It has to be quiet." Daryl nodded before looking over at his girl. Rebecca tore her eyes away from the walkers as she turned and faced Rick. "You got a plan?" "We tell her we need to talk. Away from the others."
Rebecca and Daryl glanced at each other, their thoughts running through their minds before looking back over at Rick. Daryl shook his head. "Just ain't us, man." "No," Rebecca spoke. "No, it isn't." "I agree with those two," Hershel spoke before hobbling away on his crutches.
Rick let out a frustrated sigh as he stepped closer to Daryl and Rebecca. "We do this, we avoid a fight. No one else dies." Once again, the couple turned to each other, sharing silent looks before turning back to Rick. "All right." "We need someone else."
Rebecca sighed. "Let me guess...Merle." Rick nodded. "I'll talk to him," Daryl tells him. "I'll do it," Rick said. "I'll go with you-" "No. Just me." Daryl watches Rick walk off towards the prison. He felt a hand in his right and looked down to see that it was Rebecca's. He looked up and was met with her brown eyes.
"I don't like this plan at all but...I trust Rick." Daryl sighed quietly. "So do I." "Come on." Rebecca pulled his hand lightly and started leading him to the prison. "Let's get this off our mind for a bit." "And what do you suggest we do?"
Rebecca turned around, stopping him in his tracks. "It's a surprise."

Daryl held The Catcher in the Rye book in his hands as he read silently. As his fingers flipped to the next page, he glanced down at Rebecca as her head rested on his chest. She was reading the same book as well but at a faster pace which Daryl didn't mind at all. He enjoyed this peaceful moment the two were having.
"Thanks," he muttered lowly as Rebecca tore her eyes away from her book and glanced up at him with a smile. "I knew you would have liked this surprise." Daryl rolled his eyes but leaned down and pressed a short kiss on her forehead before resorting back to his book.
The couple heard footsteps but didn't tear their eyes away from their books, even when the person was now standing in front of them.
"I don't mean to interrupt but I have an idea to run by you two."
Daryl and Rebecca both lowered their books and to their surprise, Michonne was there. "Go ahead, we're listening," Rebecca tells her with a small smile. "I was thinking of what we can do the next time the Governor and his people drive up to our gates." At the mention of the governor, Daryl sat up a bit straighter. "Go on."
"We can place spike strips at the gate. That way when the Governor and his people come barreling through again with their trucks-" Rebecca sat up, no longer laying on Daryl's chest. "Their tires will get blown out," she said in realization as Michonne nodded her head. "What do you two think?"
Daryl and Rebecca glanced at each other and nodded, silently agreeing with the other before turning back to Michonne.
"We're in."

Rebecca yanks the last spike strip out of the cargo bed of the pickup truck and lets it fall to the ground. Glenn kneels down and hammers a nail into it.
