~Day 501~
Rebecca stood by the fence, the morning sun shining down on her. A day has passed since Daryl had proposed to her and she happily accepted. As the morning came, Daryl was still sound asleep in bed while Rebecca was up, forming a plan in her head. She wanted Daryl to have a ring as well to symbolize their love for one another.
So here she was at seven in the morning, ring shopping for her husband. Husband, God, Rebecca couldn't stop calling Daryl that last night. While Daryl brushed it off, she knew he secretly liked being called that just liked how he liked calling her wife.
Rebecca eyed the walkers as they piled up against the chained fence surrounding the prison. She walked down the path, eyes narrowing on the walkers' fingers. She halted at a walker who was wearing a business suit that was torn up. The walker outstretched his hand toward her, desperate to sink his nails into her. Rebecca grabbed the hand, tightening her hold on it as the walker thrashed about. She took the knife from her pocket and began cutting at the flesh.
SQUELSH!
The walker's hand detached from the body, the walker letting out a loud growl as he stuck his right hand through the fence, clawing at the air as Rebecca stood still. With a huff, she stepped forward, stabbing her knife into the businessman's head. The growls stopped as its lifeless body fell to the ground.
Rebecca gazed down at the detached hand and carefully removed the black wedding band off its finger. She liked how different the band looked from all the others she have seen this morning and knew Daryl would love it. She pocketed the ring, chucking the hand behind her as she made her way back to the prison.
The sound of distant and muffled gunshots startled Rebecca, her head snapping up towards the prison. She felt her stomach drop, heart racing rapidly as she took off in the direction. Meeting Rick at the fence leading into the courtyard, Rick slung it open as Rebecca ran right in. "What's going on?" Rebecca yelled, her eyes landing upon Glenn and Carol who had weapons in their hands.
"Walkers in D!"
"What about C?" Rick shouted. "Clear!" Sasha's voice broke through the air, exiting the entrance to Cell Block C with Daryl and Tyreese on her heels. "We locked the gates to the tombs. Hershel's on guard." "It ain't breach," Daryl tells him, handing Rebecca her crossbow which she graciously took. Together the two rushed into Cell Block D.
As soon as Rebecca stepped in, she was greeted by the echoed sounds of gunshots and screams of fear mixed with pain. Her eyes scanned the room, immediately spotting a walker stumbling towards a little boy on the floor. She pushed past the fearful residents, her heart racing as the walker continued crawling toward the little boy. She swung her crossbow up, firing an arrow straight into the walker's head.
"You okay?!" she asked the boy who timidly nodded. His eyes widened and with a shaky hand he pointed behind her. Rebecca spins around and falls back onto the concrete floor with a thud. Her head rang as she used up her strength to keep the walker's mouth away from her neck. Daryl's head whipped around, his heart hammering against his chest at the sound of his wife's scream. He ran over, spotting a walker crawling toward the young boy and a walker on his wife. He shot an arrow at the walker, scooping the young boy up into his arms. "Take him!" Daryl ordered Karen as she hurriedly took the young boy into her arms. Daryl pulled out his knife, storming over to the walker that was on his wife. Rebecca's arms were beginning to give out but she was determined to keep up the fight.
Rebecca gasped as blood sprayed onto her face as the walker fell limply onto her body. With a hard shove, the walker lied beside her. A hand appeared in Rebecca's vision and she took it, the figure pulling her up effortlessly. She looked up, relieved to see that her husband had saved her. She thanked him with a nod and together the couple moved through the prison, killing any walker on sight, Glenn joining in.
