~Day 310~
BANG!
The gate to the cellblock busted open as Daryl hurries in, carrying Rebecca.
"Hershel!"
Daryl yells out as he walks down the cellblock, searching for Hershel or anyone of their group but no one was in here. He figured they must be outside.
"Daryl," Rebecca whispers as she lets out a soft whimper, followed by a cough. He looks down at her and sees her tired brown eyes, followed by a weak smile gazing up at him.
"W-where i-is e-everyone?" she mutters.
"They're around here, don't worry," he tells her as he enters Carol's jail cell and lies her down carefully onto the lower bed of the bunk bed. He quickly surveys the room and spots a Carol's Canteen. He picks it up and shakes it. He hears a faint whooshing sound and is relieved that there is water in it. He goes back over to the bunk bed where Rebecca was trying to sit herself up.
"Easy, easy," he tells her as he places his left hand onto her lower back and helps her sit up more. Rebecca finally sits upright and sees a canteen in Daryl's right hand. He uncaps it and hands it to her. With a shaky hand, Rebecca takes it out of Daryl's hand and raises it to her lips.
Even though the water was a bit warm, it felt refreshing to Rebecca as she gulped it all down. She let out a stratifying sigh as she lowers the canteen down and turns to Daryl who had his eyes on her the entire time.
"What's so funny?" she asks him, noticing a small smile tugging on his lips. "Nothing," he tells her as she narrows her eyes at him and lightly hits his arm. He didn't even budge and still kept his eyes remained on her.
"I'm just glad you're here," he tells her in a soft voice.
Rebecca takes his hand into hers and presses a soft kiss onto Daryl's lips. The two slowly kiss, taking in each other's presence. They soon pull away once they hear a commotion outside of the cellblock. Rebecca's furrows her eyebrows. "What was that?" Daryl takes his hands out of her hold and stands up. "I'm gonna check. You stay here," he tells her as he marches out of the jail cell and towards the noise.
He walks out of the cellblock but pauses when he spots the rest of the group behind Rick who was kneeling over an African woman.
"Rick."
At the mention of his name, he looks up and spots Daryl by the entrance of the cellblock. "Who the hell is this?" he asks him. Rick lets out a heavy sigh and looks back down at the woman. "You wanna tell us your name?"
The woman simply stares up at him while catching her breath. "You wanna tell us your name?" Rick asks again but she still doesn't answer him.
"Y'all come on in here," Daryl tells the group. Rick stands up. "Everything all right?" he asks him. "You're gonna wanna see this," Daryl simply tells him. Rick nods. "Go ahead." He then turns to Carl. "Carl, get the bag."
Carl walks past the lady and over to the steps where her bag and the basket of baby formula were sitting. He picks up the heavy bag and puts it on then grabs the basket.
The woman watches the young boy before looking back over at Rick who was currently holding her katana in his left hand. "We'll keep this safe and sound. The doors are all locked. You'll be safe here," he then points to her gunshot wound. "And we can treat that."
The woman lets out a frustrated sigh. "I didn't ask for your help." "Doesn't matter," Rick tells her, shaking his head. He turns around and storms past Daryl. "Can't let you leave." Daryl closes the cell door and locks it before following after Rick.
