Sorry for the late update friends!!
Dhiya's POV
"Akshadh, let's take Allen out tomorrow. I know it's a risk, but it's essential to overcome her Xenophobia," I said.
"No way, Dhiya. I won't take any risks or face the consequences. Allen's life is more important to me," he replied seriously.
"Do you trust me, Akshadh? I'm not willing to gamble with Allen's life either. I'll conduct a well-planned test before taking her out. We've shown her images on the laptop, and next, we'll help her meet people. If she responds well, we'll take her out. Don't worry," I reassured him.
"I trust you, Dhiya, but Allen's life is complicated, and we can't predict the outcome. She's recovering slowly, and I don't want to rush things. I'm not ready for hasty decisions," Akshadh said.
"Yes, Akshadh, I understand your concerns and love for Allen, but..." I paused.
"What? But?" he asked.
"Trust me, Akshadh. If her response is negative, we'll stop. Please, give me one last chance," I pleaded.
Akshadh remained silent, then asked me to leave him alone for a few minutes to think.
I went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, finding it neat and tidy with fresh vegetables. As I chopped them, I worried about Akshadh's support. "What if he doesn't agree? There's no other way to treat Allen. How can I make him understand?" I thought, accidentally cutting my finger. "Ahh!" I screamed, washing the wound.
Akshadh entered the kitchen, "Dhiya, what are you doing here?"
"What do you do in a kitchen?" I replied, kidding him.
"We'll get dinner from outside. You're my guest; I don't want to trouble you," he said.
"Outside? Never. It's not healthy, and considering Allen, I should cook," I convinced him.
"Hey, what happened to your finger?" he asked, noticing the injury.
"Nothing, Akshadh," I replied, hiding my finger.
"Show me?" he asked, concerned.
He grabbed my hand and noticed the bleeding in the finger. He looked at me.
"Don't you have sense?" He scolded me.
"Why are scolding me Akshadh?" I said mocking a kid.
"Just keep quiet,"
Akshadh grabbed my hand, concern etched on his face. "Don't you have sense?" he scolded, noticing the bleeding finger.
I mocked a kid's tone, "Why are you scolding me, Akshadh?"
He washed the finger with water, then applied onion juice to the wound. I admired his care, feeling a deep connection. His touch soothed the irritation, and his care melted my heart.
"Akshadh, I remembered my parents, who showed me love and care. I feel the same comfort with you," I said.
He smiled, and we shared a silent moment. Then, I got up to resume cooking, but he stopped me. "Sit down, I'll do it."
"You know how to cook?" I asked, shocked.
He chuckled. "I'm no expert, but I can manage."
Akshadh expertly prepared the gravy and chapati in different shapes. We kept the food in a hotbox, and I asked, "What do you think about Allen's further treatment?"
He showed his trust in me. "We'll proceed carefully."
I hugged him impulsively, and our eyes met for a few seconds before Allen's voice broke the moment. "Daddy!"
Akshadh lifted Allen onto his shoulders, and she laughed cheerfully, enjoying the ride. We shared a cherished dinner together, basking in the warmth of our little family.
Akshadh's POV
I had no alternative comments for Dhiya's suggestion, but I was still scared to take the next step in Allen's life. I had seen how Xenophobia frequently made life difficult for Allen, but she always overcame it with an unknown strength. I didn't expect this stage of progress so soon and was happy about it. I didn't want to lose this happiness in our lives.
I went to my room, thinking for half an hour, weighing both positive and negative thoughts about Allen's future. I was confused, but then I relaxed my mind and came to a conclusion: I would give Dhiya's opinion a chance, as her presence had brought significant improvement to Allen's life.
After thinking twice, I was confident in my decision. I searched for Dhiya, finding her in the kitchen. A smile spread across my face, and an unknown happiness filled my heart.
I stepped closer, standing beside her, but she didn't notice me. I felt her presence as a lovely moment in my life.
I cleared my throat, trying to start a conversation. "Dhiya, what are you doing here?"
She kidded, "What will you do when you're in the kitchen?"
I replied, "We shall get dinner from outside. You're my guest; I don't want to trouble you."
But she had already taken charge of the kitchen, convincing me that cooking was better for our health and Allen's well-being.
When I noticed her injured finger, I asked, "Hey, what happened?"
She downplayed it, but I grabbed her hand, seeing the bleeding. I scolded her lovingly, "Don't you have sense?"
She mocked a kid's tone, and I felt shy, embarrassed by her gaze. I looked away, applying a home remedy to her finger.
After a few minutes of silence, she got up to resume cooking. I offered to take over, but she didn't let me. I was happy to see her care for our family's well-being.
As we worked together, I realized that Dhiya had become an essential part of our lives, and I couldn't help but feel a deep affection for her.
"Do you know to cook, Akshadh?" I asked raising her eyebrows.
"I am not expert but I knew to manage,"
"That's great,"
I didn't allow her to cook. She stood nearby me. I completed preparing the gravy in my style. I prepared chapathi in different shapes. Then, we kept the chapati and gravy in hotbox.
"Akshadh, what do you think about Allen's further treatment?"
"I trust you Dhiya. We shall proceed carefully,"
She hugged me impulsively, without hesitation. I was taken aback, surprised by her sudden gesture. Did Dhiya care for Allen this deeply? I felt an overwhelming joy, not wanting to let this moment slip away. I wanted her by my side forever.
My mind voiced, "Don't leave me, Dhiya. You're my love. Stay with me and Allen for our lifetime. I'll never let you go."
But our moment was interrupted by Allen's voice, "Daddy!" Dhiya quickly released me, and our eyes met for a brief, sparkling moment.
Allen exclaimed, "Daddy and Mumma! Yes, you both are here!" as she ran towards us. I lifted her onto my shoulders, and she giggled with delight, enjoying the ride.
In this moment, I knew I couldn't imagine a life without Dhiya. She had become an integral part of our lives, bringing love and joy to both Allen and me. I hoped that our love would continue to flourish, creating a lifetime of cherished moments together.
