Chapter 5 I Only Need You

Peeta POV

 I open my eyes, feeling a strong throbbing pain in my head. God...I drank. I swing my legs out of bed and stand up but my legs aren't really happy. I stumble to the bathroom, washing my face before leaving and walking down the stairs. I see Katniss sitting on the couch with Rye drawing.

"Daddy! Are you feeling better?" he asks jumping up.

"What?" I ask walking over to the couch.

"Mommy said you were sick." he says as I sit down.

"Yeah..I'm okay now. What you drawing?" I ask.

"I'm drawing a picture for Abby." he says. 

"Ahh...alright." I say looking to an annoyed Katniss. I nudge her arm but she jerks away. "Rye? Why don't you go draw in my office. I have all the good colors there." I say.

"Okay." he says jumping up and walking away. "Katniss..

"Don't Katniss me! I'm still pissed." she says.

"I'm sorry." I say.

"Sorry? What if Rye had gone down and seen you like that?" she asks.

"I know and I know it was wrong." I say looking down.

"Yeah..it was wrong." she says.

"Please Katniss. You know I haven't drank in years." I say.

"Yeah but you know that I don't like it!" she yells standing up. "You...you ruin everything!"

"Katniss..calm down." I say.

"You killed him! You killed Gale!" she yells. I stand up and back away. She's having an attack.

"Katniss..calm down. Its alright." I say.

"You...you killed the only person I love!" she yells before lunging at me but I hold her arms.

"Katniss..please..its okay." I say. Her eyes go from a dark almost black to her normal silver grey.

"P-Peeta?" she whimpers. 

"Its okay baby." I say pulling her close as she locks her arms around my neck.

"Peeta I'm sorry...I'm so sorry." she cries. I sit us down on the couch and run my hands through her hair.

"Its alright." I say. "Your alright. It was just a little attack. Nothing bad."

"But...I could've hurt you." she says.

"No..no its alright." I say just as we hear footsteps coming down the hallway.

"Mommy! Daddy look! Is this good?" Rye says showing us a picture of a sunny beach, all kinda of bright orange colors.

"Wow..this is really good. Better than me." I say making him smile.

"Its really good angel." Katniss says.

"You okay mommy?" he asks.

"Yeah..no I'm fine." she says. He gives her a look of disbelief before turning and heading up to his room. "He didn't believe me."

"Its alright Katniss. Look, how about I give Rye to Annie and we go out?" I ask. She looks up and smiles.

"For like...dinner?" she asks.

"Sure, anything you want." I say.

"Dinner! Tonight." she says making me smile.

"Alright but take you medication." I say. She nods and stands up.

"What time tonight?" she asks.

"I'll tell you later." I say heading for the stairs. I go up to our room and into the bathroom. I wash up and head back to the bedroom, getting out some fresh clothes before walking back down to Katniss.

"Rye asked if you could make lunch." she says.

"Oh sure." I say walking to the kitchen. I make him some lunch and return to Katniss who's still shaking. "Katniss, its alright, Its over."

"I know but I'm afraid I'll hurt Rye." she says.

"You won't. I promise, I won't let that happen." I say kissing her forehead. "You have me."

"I only need you Peeta." she says making me smile. I pull her in for a tight hug. I know everything will be alright, I know it will be.
