Chapter 20 Easier Than Thought

~4 Months Later~

Peeta POV

So Katniss and I are at the hospital because she was having some pain and I wanted to be safe. Kat is enjoying the free food and unlike other hospitals this food is really good. I sit next to her bed as we wait for the doctors to come in.

"So, you ready for this? Like..the whole birth?" I ask. She sighs and nods.

"I am. I really am ready." she says. "Peeta, I want you to name the first one. Okay?" 

"What? Why?" I ask.

"Because. Only because of you can I get through this." she says. I smile and walk over to her, leaning down and kissing her cheek. "I would do anything for you." we decided not to know the genders till she gave birth. We wanted to be surprised. We sit there just as the doctor comes in.

"Good afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Mellark." he says walking over to us. "So, whats going on?"

"I'm in my 9th month. I'm having alot of pain." Katniss says.

"Okay, well, I'll take a look." he says. "Have you had any other problems during the months? Like something your not used to?"

"No, not really. I was pretty surprised since I'm having triplets." she says.

"Oh wow! Triplets. Thats amazing." he says. "Only a few times do I have woman that are having triplets." he starts to take out the ultra shall. "I'm gonna take a fast look, see if something is wrong." we nod and he starts to look over her, our eyes glued to the monitor. "Hmm..all of them are looking good. You wanna know the gender or do you already know?"

"We wanna wait and be surprised." I say. He nods and puts it away.

"Alright, I'm gonna take a look to see how far you are." he says just as a nurse walks in.

"Mr. Mellark...you need to come with me." she says.

"What? Why?" I ask.

"Its your son, Rye. His school bus crashed." she says. I gasp and rush to her, following her out of the room and down the hallway to the ER. She opens the doors and I see him in a bed, covered in blood and cuts.

"Oh god..Rye!" I say as the tears start to flow. I rush over to him but a doctor holds me back. "Thats my son!"

"I know but we have to do an emergency operation on him." he says. 

"What?! Why?!" I ask.

"Because his stomach was crushed in the crash." he says.

"Will he be okay?" I ask.

"We don't know but we'll do our best." he says as they roll his bed away. I nod and turn back to the nurse.

"How about we go back to your wife." she says. I nod and follow her back to Katniss's room. I open the door to get a worried look from her.

"Where's Rye?! Whats wrong?!" she asks.

"He's having an operation right now." I say sitting down. "But he's okay."

"Alright." she says but clenches her stomach in pain.

"Hey, calm down. Your okay." I say rushes over to her but she starts to cry.

"Oh god...Peeta get the doctor!" she says. I freak out and rush out, finding a doctor just down the hall.

"My wife...I think she having her babies." I say. He follows me down the hall to Katniss's room and inside. He heads over to her only to get a loud scream from her.

"Alright, Mrs. Mellark, we're gonna move to the delivery room." he says getting the bed ready. "Peeta, I need your help." I nod and help him move her from the room and down the hall. The whole way Katniss screams and cries. We make it and doctors start to get her ready. 

"Mr. Mellark, you can stay here if you want." one says. I nod and take Katniss hand as she looks at me worried.

"Peeta...I'm scared." she says.

"I know...so am I but your gonna be okay. I promise." I say. She nods as the doctors are moving around frantically. 

"Alright, Katniss. You ready?" One asks. She looks at me before nodding. "Okay, you've done this before. I want you to push." she does but screams in pain while crushing my hand. This is gonna take a while. "Come on, you got it." she pushes and pushes while screaming and crying. 

"You can do it Katniss, your gonna be fine!" I say. She nods and keeps going before we hear a light crying.

"One's here..its a boy." he says. I smile and walk over to him, letting him hand the small newborn to me. I walk back to Katniss and hand her him.

"He's perfect." she says. I smile but she starts off again so I take him from her and hand him to a nurse. Here we go again.

~30 Minutes Later~

So...after that Katniss gave birth to two girls. Now the doctors left but took the babies with to check them over.

"Its done Kat. Its over, we have 2 sons and 2 daughters." I say running my hand through her hair.

"I know...but it wasn't fun." she says making me smile.

"I bet it wasn't." I say. "But its over. They're here." she nods just as the door opens and a nurse walks in.

"Your son Rye, he's okay. The operation was good and he's sleeping." she says. I nod and look to Katniss. Every can only get better from here.
