Chapter 16 Games for Adults

Katniss POV

The night slowly comes to an end. Annie told Finnick and he freaked out along with Rye and Peeta. I decided to go to bed earlier cause I was just tired but as I slowly fall asleep the door opening pulls me back. It closes and light footsteps approach me. Soon I feel a hand on my back I know all too well. Peeta. 

"Peeta...I'm tired." I say. 

"Are you so sure?" he asks rubbing my back. As sure as I am I always end up giving into him so I do. The rest of the night is pretty much..well...you all know.

~The Next Morning~

I open my eyes feeling Peeta's arm draped around my waist. Last night was something I needed, something I had longed for since we got here. I carefully sneak out of bed to get my nightgown. I pull it on and quietly leave the room, heading down the stairs and into the living room to see Annie.

"Hey, sleep well?" I ask sitting down across from her.

"Sure did but I'm guessing you did as well." she says smiling. I give her a look of confusion before understanding what she means.

"We were loud?" I ask.

"Well..not so bad but we heard you two." she says. My cheeks go hot as I look down. "Hey, its fine. Don't worry about it."

"I didn't mean to keep you up." I say.

"You didn't. I slept like a rock. I only heard you right when I went to bed." she says. "But if Finnick annoys you about it I'll beat him." I laugh.

"Okay, thanks Annie." I say. She nods just as Rye comes down.

"Morninig mom." he says jumping up next to me.

"Hey little man. Sleep good?" I ask.

"Yeah, okay." he says rubbing his eyes. 

"Whats wrong? You have nightmares?" I ask.

"No...but you and daddy were really loud last night with your adult games." he says. Annie ends up spitting out some of her coffee trying to hold back her laugh.

"What?! Well..Rye don't listen to us when we do that. Okay?" I say.

"Alright." he says looking down.

"Go get yourself some breakfast." I say. He nods and jumps up, heading for the kitchen.

"That was the most priceless thing I've ever hear a child say." she says. 

"That was not funny." I say. "I'm gonna go get Peeta."

"You have lots of fun with that." she says smiling. I roll my eyes and stand up, heading up the stairs and too our room. I push the door open to see a sleeping Peeta. I walk in and over to him, sitting down and running my hand through his soft hair.

"Hey Kitty." he mumbles. 

"Morning." I say leaning down and giving him a light kiss.

"Why you up so early?" he asks sitting up a little.

"Peeta..its 9:30." I say making him frown and look at the clock.

"Oh...your right. God...I'm sore." he says.

"I wonder why." I say making him smile again.

"Because we went on longer than ever before last night." he says. 

"Yes but we really, really gotta learn to be quiet." I say.

"Why? What happened now?" he asks.

"We kept Rye up half the night." I say making him smile even more.

"Oh well." he says.

"Oh well? Thats all you can say to that?" I ask.

"What should I say? He's gonna learn what we really do." he says.

"Yeah...your right. Somehow I don't really wanna believe that he's growing up." I say.

"Katniss, its normal. But he's only 6. He's not growing up anytime soon." he says wrapping his arms around me. 

"I know. Your right." I say. "But come on, breakfast time." he groans and gets out of bed. What happened..well...was amazing at the time but I never thought I would turn into such a nightmare.
