Chapter 15 The Cabin at the Lake

Katniss' pov

The walk to the lake house was quiet. It was a comfortable silence. We all held hands and Peeta held the bag. It's times like that where you really want to enjoy and appreciate life for what it is, not what it's for. I take a breath as the wood like smell fills my lungs. We reach the lake house and we see Annie and Finnick there. They both come running over and greet us in a massive hug.

"Hey!" They say.

"Hi." I reply. Peeta gives Finnick a man hug whilst Annie hugs Rye. I then hug Finnick, then Annie.

"Katniss, Peeta, I'm sorry to hear what happened. Both of us are." Finnick says. I nod. Peeta squeezes my hand. "It's okay." I croak. Annie rubs my arms and sadly smiles at me.

"C'mon, let's get in the lake, I'm really dying to have a swim." Finnick says.

"Course you are." Peeta mumbles. I chuckle a little and Annie does too. Rye doesn't understand so he stays confused. "Uncle Finnick was from district 4, he used to do a lot of swimming there." Peeta explains.

"My mum taught me how to swim." Rye says. I hug him and I kiss his head. "She's a really good teacher."

"Thank you Rye." I kiss his cheek.

"She taught me when we were younger." Peeta says.

"Really?"

"Yeah." I kiss Peetas lips. I pull away.

"I'll show you to your rooms." I tell Annie and Finnick. They nod and I show them the other simple room. It was for Prim and I when we were younger. I walk back to the main room and I see Peeta and Rye already in their swimming trunks. I smile and I change into my green bikini. I grab the towels and I go outside, setting up a small area on the deck. I go back inside and I grab some snacks. I put them in bowls and I take them out onto the deck.

"Katniss, can you come here a minute?" Annie says. I set the bowl down and walk over to her. 

"What is it?" I say sitting down.

"Are you really okay with everything?" she asks.

"Kinda, Peeta and I are taking this okay. So is Rye." I say. "But it does still hurt."

"I can't imagine the pain Katniss. I'm really sorry but...have you thought about trying for another?" she asks. I sigh and look down. Sure I have...I just never told Peeta.

"Well...I have. But I just don't wanna replace my daughter." I say.

"Yes, I understand that but maybe it could help you." she says.

"Maybe, I'll talk to Peeta about it." I say. She nods and smiles.

"But I have something else to tell you." she says.

"Okay..and?" I ask.

"I'm....I'm pregnant." she says. I smile and stand up, pulling her up for a tight hug.

"Oh my god Annie! Really?" I ask. She nods and reaches in her pocket, pulling out a picture and handing it to me. I look at the small baby and in the picture.

"I'm in the fourth month." she says. "I wanted to tell Finnick tonight at dinner."

"Thats good, I'll be there." I say. She smiles as Rye runs up.

"Mommy! Something's wrong with dad, he hasn't come out of the water for a long time!" he says. I gasp and jump up, rushing to the water but as I get there a hand on my ankle pulls me into the water. I come out of the water to see Peeta and Rye laughing.

"Peeta!" I say splashing him.

"What? Kitty needed a swim." he says swimming over to me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Sure, you could've asked." I say. He smiles and kisses my lightly.

"I know but it wouldn't be as fun." he says running his hands up and down my back making me shiver. I nod and let him kiss me again but he doesn't pull back. I wrap my arms around his neck as he holds me up in his arms. His hands wander to the tie of my top as he slowly pulls it undone. Soon its off but thankfully I'm far enough under the water that nobody can see. His hands lightly massage my breasts making me moan and him smile in the kiss.

"Ya know, before you two go to town in the water you should eat." We jump and see Finnick perched on the dock above us. "And Katniss, really?"

"Peeta did it." I say pulling my top back on and tying it.

"Sure he did now get out of the water so Rye doesn't get scared for life." he says. We smile and climb out of the water but I know. Whatever Peeta wanted to do, it'll continue tonight.
