Chapter 28 Christmas

Katniss POV

"Mommy!" I open my eyes to see Jas and Bryant running into our room and jumping on our bed. "Its Christmas!" 

"Hey..yes I know sweetie." I say sitting up. "We'll be up soon, okay?"

"Okay! We'll be waiting downstairs by the Christmas tree!" she says jumping off the bed.

"No running down the stairs!" I call after them.

"Ahhh...why do they wake up so early?" Peeta mumbles under his pillow.

"Because they want gifts cupcake." I say making him sit up. "I just wish Rye was here."

"I know baby but right now lets give the others a good Christmas." he says climbing out of bed.

"Your right..I'm sorry." I say climbing out as well. He shakes his head and walks over to me, hugging me tightly and giving me a short kiss.

"Lets go have a good Christmas." he says making me smile. I nod and we leave the room, walking downstairs to the living room where the tree and the kids are.

"We want you and daddy to open your's first." Jas says holding out a small box for me. I take it and sit down, pulling the wrapping off and seeing a necklace.

"Oh wow..its beautiful." I say taking it out. "Thanks Jas." 

"Its from us all and Rye." she says making me smile even more. Soon we've opened all our gifts and now we're just watching some Christmas movies.

"Peeta, you wanna go see Rye today?" I ask.

"We can if you want." he says. "I'll come with."

"Really? What about the kids?" I ask.

"They're coming with this time. So they can at least see they're brother." he says.

"You all wanna see Rye?" I ask.

"We can? Really?!" Jas says jumping up. 

"Yes, go get dressed and we'll head out." I say. They all nod and run upstairs to they're room.

"Katniss...how about tomorrow we give the kids to Finnick and Annie. We need a night for us." Peeta says wrapping his arms tightly around me.

"Like what?" I ask.

"Like..maybe a nice dinner and relaxing. A movie or just cuddling." he says twirling his fingers within my hair.

"That sounds...really good." I say pulling him down for kiss. "Tomorrow then?"

"Sure, tomorrow." he says. I nod and we stand up, walking up to our room to change. "I hope the kids handle seeing Rye like the way he is."

"They just wanna see they're brother. I don't think they care." I say.

"Yeah..your right." he says. We get dressed and walk back down the the kids who are already in they're jackets waiting for us.

"Geez, you guys seem excited." I say grabbing my jacket.

"We are mommy. We wanna see Rye." Bryant says.

"I know but he doesn't speak. He's just sleeping." I say.

"We know mom. Day kinda told us already so if we do get to see him we know." Jace says. I look up to Peeta who shrugs.

"Alright, lets go see Rye." I say opening the door. We all get in the car and Peeta drives us to the hospital. We get out and walk in to see a nurse standing at the desk.

"Ahh..Mr. and Mrs. Mellark. Are you here to see Rye?" she asks. We've been here so many times they all know who we are.

"Yeah, his brothers and sister wanted to see his so badly." I say.

"Alright, you know what room it is but I ask for you to be quiet. They are others here." she says.

"Alright." Peeta says. We walk down the hallway to the elevator, we go up to the 5th floor and down another hall to Rye's room. I open the door and we see him in his bed. We walk in and over to him.

"Hi Rye, we wanted to see you." Jas says climbing up on his bed.

"Yeah, we made you something too" Jace says as he and Bryant climbs up as well. Jas pulls out a little box and they set it on the nightstand next to him. "We want you to come home."

"We miss you Rye." Bryant says and they all give him a hug. I let the tears flow and and I hug Peeta tightly, I can't stand seeing Rye like this but worse things were to come.
