He started to ask me questions, “so how old are you?” I didn’t make direct eye contact as I looked at him, “I am sixteen.” he nodded, “what’s your birthday?” I shrugged, “never celebrated and I’ve been here long enough to not remember when.” he awkwardly cleared his throat, “what’s your favorite hobby?”

I shrugged again, “I like to play guitar and sing but I also like to go on walks.” he nodded again, “what’s your name?” I played with my fingers, “Gabriel Fox I technically have a last name but I don’t care for it.” he nodded, “I understand and would you like to be adopted?”

I smiled, “yeah of course I would but I understand if you want a normal kid.” he smirked at me, “there’s no such thing as normal.” I chuckled and nodded, “I agree.” he looked down for a moment, “can I ask you one last last thing?” I nodded, “of course.” he cleared his throat.

“Why are you here?” I looked down ashamed and felt my heart drop at the question, “oh um I don’t really want to talk about it.” He nodded, “of course I understand I apologize.” I looked up and excused myself and started to go to my room. As I walked past the other girls I heard Lucy shout.

"LOOK THE EMO FREAK IS GONNA CRY!" I sent her a death stare and she took a step back. I quickly ran up the stairs to my "room" which is actually a storage closet. I heard the "warden" call my name and report to her office over the intercom a couple minutes later.

I lazily got up and walked to her office when I entered. I saw her standing next to Jeffrey and she smiled at me in a high pitched voice and said, "you got adopted go pack your stuff sweety." I looked at him and thought that Gabriel Fox Morgan had a nice sound to it.

I ran up the steps and went to my room and got my duffle bag and put my 2 shirts and pants and my heeled combat boots in then grabbed my guitar case then walked back downstairs where Jeffrey was waiting. He looked at my duffle bag and looked confused, " is that all you have?"

He asked and I nodded, “Yeah, I wasn't allowed to go get clothes.” He shook his head in disgust and said, "we are gonna go shopping tomorrow." I went to object but he gave me a look making me just nod. We exited the orphanage and got into his car.

He told me we had to make a quick stop before we went home. I stopped to think about it for the first time in thirteen years I finally had a home. I laid my head against the window and smiled to myself.
