I took a quick shower, blow drying my hair since it would take forever to dry otherwise. I grabbed my only clean shirt along with my jeans and decided to wear my converse since I didn’t want to walk in heels all day. I got dressed then headed downstairs, “ready?” I nodded, “Perfect, let’s get going.” I grabbed my wallet and followed him.
He locked the door then headed to the truck, “so where do you go to school?” I sighed, “Park.” he nodded, “that’s up on the hill isn’t it?” I nodded, “yeah.” he sighed, “how did you get there before?” I shrugged, “I usually walked since the bus didn’t come around the orphanage.” He took his eyes off the road to look at me in shock.
“Eyes on the road I don’t feel like crashing.” he chuckled, turning to face the road again, “but seriously you walked up that hill?” I nodded, “yeah it’s not easy or safe but it was really the only way.” he shook his head, “well you don’t have to worry about that now I have to get up early anyway to head to set so I’ll just drive you from now on.”
I went to protest but he quickly shut it down, “no argument I don’t want anything to happen to you.” I smiled looking down at my lap, “thank you.” he nodded, “don’t mention it kiddo it’s my job to protect you now.” we stopped and I looked up to see we were at the mall, “before we go put these on.”
He handed me a hat and sunglasses, “this is a horrible disguise you realise that right?” he chuckled, “yeah well it’s all we got at the moment.” I giggled, slipping the glasses on then putting my hair into a ponytail to tuck it through the hole in the back of the hat.
I climbed out of the truck making sure to partially stay hidden behind him as I saw a few people with cameras, “just keep your head down and don’t answer anything they say alright?” I nodded. They immediately noticed Jefferey and began to snap pictures, “Jeffery, who's that with you?” “Is she your girlfriend?” “Isn’t she a bit young?”
I felt panicky as they pushed closer to me and I felt one of them pull on the hat, “hey!” I was tugged backwards and they swarmed me, “get away from her you vultures!” I was pulled forward and pushed forward by Jeffery, “you okay?” I shakily nodded, picking up the pace towards the mall entrance.
I let out a deep breath as security stopped them from following us in, “Jeffery good to see you again.” he leaned down hugging a petite woman, “hi I’m Daneel.” I offered my hand and she shook it, “I’m Gabriel.” she took a step back, “so where do you want to go first kiddo?” I looked at the shops and smiled as I saw Hot Topic.
“Can we go to Hot Topic?” he chuckled, “if that’s where you wanna go.” I had to restrain myself from running over to the store. I knew exactly where to go as soon as we entered the store, making both Jeffery and Daneel chuckle at my excitement. I grabbed a Supernatural shirt and a pair of ripped jeans, “alri-”
I cut myself off with a chuckle as I saw Jeffery and Daneel holding up multiple Supernatural and Walking Dead shirts, “I don’t to waste your money.” Jeffery narrowed his eyes at me, “you are getting all these.” I opened my mouth, “no arguments missy.” I held my hands up in mock surrender chuckling, “wow sounding like Papa Winchester already.”
Daneel chuckled, “he has that tendency.” I grabbed a few more pairs of jeans, some of them ripped, others simply faded, “alright i think that’s enough.” I grimaced knowing the price was going to astronomical considering each shirt was like fifteen dollars and we got around ten or fifteen that’s not even counting the jeans. Daneel paused, “Wait, we need accessories.”
I groaned and she darted to the accessory section making me sigh, following her. She got multiple packs of earrings and some necklaces, “there perfect now we can go.” I saw the hair dye, “actually can I get one more thing?” I grimaced knowing the total was way more than any regular parent would allow, “don’t worry I have more than enough to cover it kiddo just grab whatever you want or need.”
