Dropout

I told you I'd try and learn to live without you

Or me checking up on you, always on your tail

It feels so unnatural, goes against human nature

Like a course where literal hell's what it entails

But at this point in life it's my final credit

That course with no purpose and no honest merit

My only option, but what this curriculum's about

I won't graduate, I'll be a fucking dropout

It's so quiet without you, even when you're green

Even when I expect hell itself, I'm still surprised

Hooked on a past that time won't let me reel in

Missing the silver shine of your gunmetal eyes

But at this point in life it's my last requirement

Already planning for an early retirement

The last on the list, my mind's words are a drought

I'm the fucking Atacama and a fucking dropout

Something you could do that I guess I could never

Graduate on time despite the hell in your head

I guess your mask really is stronger than all of mine

Speaking of which, there's more and they're back from the dead

But at this point in life it's the key to my future

Key to a lock that's blocked by a metal suture

My dreams try to tell me something, for which the devout

Faces in my mind know I'm a fucking dropout

Rebellion amongst the sea of sorrows

She doesn't know that I know what she's trying to do

Though maybe now she'll realize it

I know she wants to somehow get back to you

But at this point when the sake's gone dry

The vodka's too low like the sun in the sky

If I leave that golden apple, and permanently log out

Won't change the fact that for this I'm a fucking dropout

I fight the urge to call on our friends

The ones we share in a list, sometimes two

Do they even know what happened between us

Or is there a wall of silence for them too

But at this point it's too late, right

Eight marks and no reply from the golden knight

So I say fuck my grades, I'll hold myself back, no doubt

And for this time of my life be a fucking dropout.
