Let's think back a year.
No, let's think back two.
Let's think back to a lovely time
When it was just me and you.
Remember how that whole year was,
From February and beyond?
There were no quarrels, qualms or questions,
There was only our loving bond.
So now then, Jake, I ask you
Do you remember what you called me?
You always put it in your status,
To you, I was always a goddess.
And where oh where did that title go,
Not that I mind that,
As you probably know.
But still, isn't it strange?
I was yours, the Goddess of Birds
Of your love and of your heart
What trying tales that time may tell
Of how we fell apart.
How swiftly do the birds migrate
And how quickly you move on
How foolish I was to play as your queen
When I was just a pawn.
But isn't it amusing
And a little bit confusing
How the tables turn,
And the world works on my side?
The cards and jokers shift in my favor
Revenge is much too loud a word
But silent spite is the sweetest flavor
You can't cage the Goddess of Birds.
