The entire day was a complete nightmare. I could barely type on my computer because my hands were shaking so hard. Evan stayed in Mr. Taylor's office for quite some time before returning back to his office just behind my desk. I could barely even look in his direction because I was afraid I would burst into tears and run into his arms. I hope I don't seem ungrateful to Evan. He saved me, but Mr. Taylor is going to only make it harder on me now.
I had to eat in one of the bathroom stalls because I was too afraid to leave the office. Evan didn't leave for lunch either and neither did Mr. Taylor. I heard chatter and snickers from around the office everywhere I went. It's bad enough when you're dating your boss's son, but it's worst when you're the reason why everyone works overtime.
As I started to leave at the end of the day with everyone else, I never felt so free in my life. I quickly clocked out and rushed to get to my car. There was no waiting on Evan today. I've had enough embarrassment for one day.

"Honey!" Renee holds me softly as I bawl on her paisley designed couch, "For once I have to give it to that bastard. He defended you."
"God, I'm so embarrassed." I cry, "And I have work tomorrow!"
"It'll be okay. Doesn't Evan work tomorrow?" Renee pats my back softly.
I sniff. "Yeah."
"See! You're going to be okay." My curly haired friend says softly, still holding me. "If I was there, I would have cut that Dick's balls off and turned him into a pussy."
I chuckle at my thoughts. "I think Evan already did."
Renee cackles happily. She hands be a box of tissues and lets me straighten up. She continues to hold me for support. Suddenly, I hear Brenton's sneakers squeak against the floor. We turn to see Brenton with a toothpick in his mouth, hair slicked back. I can see the dark circles under his eyes from his late shift at Monty's the night before. He only works late nights, leaving Renee lonely most of the time.
"What's with the damn love fest?" He lead against the wall, "Somebody die or something?"
"Just my dignity." I sniff.
I know Renee is mouthing something to him but I don't turn to look. Renee knows how to handle both me, Lucy, and Brenton with just her two hands and her mouth. She's a one woman army. Plus, I'm too embarrassed to care about about anything right now.
Brenton walks over and kisses Renee lovingly, making me smile at how sweet he is to her despite how rough he usually is with everybody else. They've been dating for 5 years now and she's still waiting on his dumbass to propose. Lucy and I have a theory that he is saving up all his money to buy her a ring. I sure hope so. Breton leaves to go hang out with his friend, Matt Justin.
"Lil' Mama, I'll be back." Then Brenton is gone.
I turn to her with a smug expression. "I love how he calls you 'Lil' Mama'."
"Shut up!" Renee grins at me as she hides her blushing face, "I like Babygirl better."
My cell begins to ring that familiar song that only belongs to Evan. I give Renee a worried look but she motions for me to answer it. Reluctantly, I answer it.
I sniff, feeling a lump in my throat. "Hello?"
"Sweetheart, where are you?" the worry in his voice makes me only cry harder, "Baby, are you crying?"
I sniff as I wipe my tears with a new tissue. "I'm fine, Evan."
Oh no. I called him Evan. I NEVER call him by his actual name. Only Baby or Handsome. And sometimes Daddy but we're not getting into detail. He knows I'm not okay.
"Brooke, Baby, please stop crying. Okay? Hold on, I'm on my way." He says in a protective voice, as if he were a superhero on his way to rescue me. "Are you home?"
"No, I'm at Renee's." I sniff, looking at my friend whose sitting there in anticipation. "I'll be okay. You don't have to come save me anymore today."
"It's my job to protect my girl." Evan says firmly, "I'm already on 7th Acre st."
Now I don't know what came over me, I sure scared the hell out myself by doing so, but tears began to stream down my face as I couldn't hold back sobs. Renee sits there is shock at my sudden emotions. God, I am so pathetic! I'm getting all worked up over nothing! It truly wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Mr. Taylor didn't even yell, Evan did. But I believe the only reason why Mr. Taylor didn't yell at me was because he was expecting Evan to swoop in and rescue me. And that, I'm afraid, only opens the faucet in my eyes. I'm such a crybaby.

It took Evan 16 minutes to find Renee's house. He should know, though. It's the only house with a white picket fence in front of their lawn. I was still bawling like a pathetic wimp when Renee opened the door and there Evan stood. His hands balled up into a tight fist, ready for a fight. Slicked back t-shirt with his bomber jacket and blue jeans.
Renee, thank God, quickly took the hint and moved aside right before Evan could trample over her. He rushed to me as I stood, being pulled into his arms.
I sniff as I cry. "I'm sorry about today. I shouldn't have stayed over last night and got us shit-faced drunk."
I can't help but notice how Renee crosses her arms and props her hips at the sound of me ever getting drunk. I never told her about that part of the story. Ah shit. I'm gonna hear a motherly speech later on.
"It's okay." Evan rubs circles on my back, "Its over now. I took care of it."
My crybaby self just began to come undone right there in his arms. I am so embarrassed for everyone right now. Good lord, I am making such a scene!
"I know, baby. You're just more tender hearted, that's all." He holds me tight against him, swaying us back and forth. "That's all."
