After Austin picked Lucy up, Renee helped me get ready for the Anniversary dinner. I know we'll end up having sex at the end of the night, considering that's all Evan could think about when he called me earlier.
As I leave Renee's, she gives me a big hug.
"Go get him, Honey." I nod to her.
             "I will." And I'm gone.

When I stepped into the house, I could smell the Italian food. I wait for Chase to come running but he never does. I make my way into the living room/kitchen. Evan stands at the stove cooking. He's wearing black dress pants and a blue button up shirt.
"It smells good." I say happily.
Evan turns and nods. Then he slowly pauses and turns back around to completely face me. His eyes get glossy and his face becomes blank. I walk around the kitchen counter and put my hands on his chest. He slowly puts his hands on my hips, their shaking.
"You're so beautiful." He says in a soft voice.
"Happy One Year Anniversary." I peck his lips, "Is the food almost done?"
Evan blinks, then looks back at the food. "Oh! Yeah, yeah. It's almost finished. Why don't you just find your way to your seat?"
I find my way into the little dinning room between the kitchen and living room. As I sit down, Evan brings the food over and puts it in our plates. It's Fettuccine Alfredo. He goes and dims the lights, I half expect there to be  romantic music. But there's not. Evan sits down across the table from me, his hands shaking. God, why is he shaking? Is he nervous? Did Bob give him his position as head Book Publisher CEO? If so, this really is going to be a good night.
We eat our meal in silence, which kills me. I finally try to make conversation.
"So how was work?" I say hopefully.
Evan nods, not seeming too excited about that. "It was work."
No promotion. Yikes. Okay, think of something better.
"Well, Lucy is on her first date with Austin." I smile, "She looked gorgeous after Renee and I got done with her."
Evan nods, not paying much attention to me. Something is up. And it's making me worry.
"Baby, what happened today?" I say worried.
Evan looks at me confused. "What?"
I jut my jaw at him. "What's going on? You've barely said anything to me the entire evening! You're hands are shaking and you're not even listening to a damn word I'm saying."
Something sparks in those blue eyes of Evan's. He wipes his mouth and stands. At first, I think he's going walk past me but he stops and holds out his hand for me to take. I give him a confused look before taking his hand. Evan pulls me up and turns on, you'll never guess, romantic music. The same old trumpet and jazz feel stuff you hear in movies. Just as long as it's not that one song that people have sex to. I always roll my eyes at that cliché. This is kind of like our first date. I just hope we don't end up in the backseat of his car again.
"Do you want to dance with me, Sweetheart?" Evan says, pulling me close to him.
I smile up at him, still weary of his strange behavior. "Well, we're already standing this close. Might as well."
Evan takes my right hand and pulls me even tighter against him. OH MY GOD, his cologne is soooooo good! We begin to sway to the music. I let Evan do most of the leading. Eventually, I close my eyes as we sway to the music. But I still feel Evan's sweaty, shaking hands.
"Baby, why are you so nervous?" I ask, "Please tell me. Please, Baby."
We quit swaying and I look up into Evan's blue eyes. He lets out a shaky breath. Something tells me he has something to tell me. And I'm not going to like it.
"Wait here." Evan walks past me and disappears out of the room.
I stand alone to the music. The sound of Evan's feet shuffling the floor echoes through the room. He returns with a small black bag and a red rose. I give him a look before he hands it to me.
"I-I didn't get you anything." I say nervously, curious to what is in the bag. I swear if it's lingerie—
"Princess, just open it." Evan commands.
I walk over to the dinning room counter and lay the red rose and bag down. Smiling, I turn to Evan.
              "What is it?" I chuckle.
Evan motions for me to hurry up and open it. I roll my eyes at him and turn entirely towards the counter. Nervous, I put my hand into the bag. All I feel is paper—my fingers brush up against something glass.
"What the—" I grab the glass thing and pull it out.
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! It's the mini Cinderella carriage jewelry box I saw at Chic Antiques! Awe, he remembered! Giggling happily, I open the—HOLY SHIT! My mouth drops and my entire body goes numb. There, I side this glass Cinderella carriage, is a diamond ring.
"Holy shit! Evan—" When I turn around, Evan is down on one knee.
I cannot move. I cannot speak. All I can do is stare down at Evan, whose taking in deep breaths at the moment.
"Brooke Ellis Adams—" tears begin to rolls down my cheeks.
"—YES!" I scream at him, "Sorry, keep going."
Evan chuckles. "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
I nod my head frantically. I rush over to him, nearly falling on my face from these damn heels, and wrap my arms around his neck. My lips find his immediately, kissing him deeply. He stands as we kiss, pulling me tightly against him. Wow. Evan asked me to marry him! THATS WHY HE WAS SO DAMN NERVOUS!!!!!!!!! We both resurface for air, chuckling at ourselves.
"So should I take that as a yes?" I frantically nod, tears ruining my mascara.
"YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES! A million times YES!" I wrap my arms around his neck.
Evan chuckles, kissing my forehead. "Good, because I've been rehearsing that all day."
