        So Saturday came and so did the engagement party. Evan had the house cleaner and multiple bottles of booze ready for or guest. EVERYBODY came around 4:30, the exact time they were supposed to be there. Evan and I let them all in and it got loud quickly. Drew showed up with Derrick, surprise (not). I ignored Lucy completely and talked to Renee, who was also ignoring Lucy.
"She's been calling me non stop." Renee says, "Trying to apologize for ratting us out. Brenton and I had a HUGE fight after we left your house."
I nod. "Lucy has no damn right."
"No, she didn't!" Renee glares at Lucy from afar.
Suddenly, I feel a warm hand on the small of my back. When I look over, Evan stands there with a small smile. He pulls me into an embrace and kisses my forehead. Renee gives me a thumbs up before excusing herself to find a bathroom.
Evan and I walked around and greeted people, mainly his friends. I ignored Lucy even though she tried to talk to me. I listened and watched Evan talk with his friends, my hand on his chest as his right arm holds me against his side and the right hand holds a beer. Evan periodically kisses my forehead or lips.
As Evan guides me through the crowd of people in his living room/kitchen and backyard. As we head closer to the front door, I hear a soft, silky voice.
"Ev!" Both Evan and I turn—
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! Hell no! Fuck no! My hands begin to tremble at the sight of her. Her tanned skin and perfect teeth, dark curly hair. Evan's longest lasting ex-girlfriend, Bonnie Lyons, who had cheated on me with once before when he thought I was cheating. Bonnie walks toward us, her tight red dress revealing her fake breast.
"Hi, Ev." She says in a very soft voice, silky and smooth. "Long time no see, huh?"
Evan's hand becomes loose in my tight gripped hand. I look up at him and tug. His face is blank, his eyes are as wide as his mouth.
"Bonnie?" Evan says confused.
I dig my nails into Evan's meaty palm, causing him to jump and hiss at the pain. When he turns and looks at me, I give him a look. Trying to smile past the jealousy. Bonnie's eyes shift to me, her cheery expression fades quickly. That oh-so-perfect smile of hers turns into a hard frown.
"Bonnie, this is Brooke Adams." Evan pulls me in front of him, his hand n my shoulder. "Brooke, this is—"
"Bonnie Lyons." I say coldly, despite my sickly sweet smile. "I've heard so much about you."
Bonnie begins to laugh, her eyes on Evan. "All good I hope."
I don't respond, only a small smile. I look to Evan, whose a nervous wreck.
"Evan, don't you have some announcement to make soon?" I say falsely confused.
Evan nods. "Yes, yes. I will get on that."
When Evan leaves, it's just me and the Devil's mistress. She gives me a cold stare but I know just how to rub the salt to the wound.
"Welcome to our home." I then turn around and walk away smirking.
I hurriedly find Renee. I find her by the snack bowls. She's stuffing her mouth with M&M brownies and soda.
"Evan's favorite ex is here." I half whisper to her, "Evan was drooling all over her."
With her mouth full, Renee says "Bat son of ahhh batch (that son of a bitch)!"
"Who the hell invited her?" I say angrily, "Evan was sure as hell shocked—"
Suddenly, Drew walks up with Derrick. You can SO tell they are together.
"Brooke, Evan's—" Drew begins.
"—favorite ex, Bonnie, is here. I know." I groan, "Did you invite her?"
"Bob probably did." That sets something off inside me. Of course, it makes sense.
"Excuse me! Everyone!" The sound of Evan's voice rises above everyone else's, just in time. "I have an announcement. Can I please have everyone's attention? Thank you."
It gets quiet. I see Bonnie standing close to where I think Evan stands. The way she's looking at him makes me want to punch her in her perfect teeth.
"Where's Brooke? Brooke, Baby! Where are you?" I make my way through the crowd as he talks, "Ahhh, there's my girl."
Evan smiles widely, his arm wrapping around my body. My eyes immediately go to Bonnie, whose glaring at me from where she stands. I put my hand on Evan's chest, smiling up at him happily.
"There's a reason why we've called you all here." Evan pauses for dramatic effect, "We're getting married."
The entire room begins to cheer and hoot. Evan leans down and kisses me tenderly, chuckling as he does so. When we part our kiss, Evan's friends shake his hand and they hug me. But there's one person I see whose not happy about this announcement. Bonnie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The party has been going on for a couple hours now. And I am still getting congratulated on my engagement. I feel like the center of attention, which I've never been fond of. Renee and even Lucy came up and congratulated me on my engagement. Why does everyone always want to see the ring? Everyone asked and I showed everyone. They all kept telling me that we were lucky to have one another.
I go to look for Evan, wanting to be held by my husband to be. But he's nowhere to be found. I search the entire party but I don't find him anywhere. Evan's probably in the bathroom somewhere. I go to look for him through the rest of the house. I look in the study, all bathrooms, workout room, laundry room, storage room—but no Evan. I begin to wonder if I missed him somewhere. As I start towards the master bedroom, I hear voices. As I get closer, I recognize two voices: Evan and Bonnie. My heart breaks.
  "Bonnie, I don't know who told you about this party or even why you showed up." Evan sounds angry, "But if you came here to cross a bridge that YOU burned down a long time ago, don't. I'm happy now. I have Brooke."
Then Bonnie says, "Isn't that child molesting or something? I mean, she's really young."
I scoff, louder than I intended to. It gets quiet. Too quiet. I make a run for the halls before Evan can catch me eavesdropping.
When I get back to the party, I'm shaken up. Evan was defending me, I know this. But jealousy eats me alive. I walk up to the bar and pour me an extra large glass of straight Vodka.
"Hey, Brooke—" I hear Renee's voice.
I throw the drink in the back of my throat and swallow, it burns all the way down. I cough loudly, a tear escaping my eye. Renee's face appears as she grabs me and turns me around.
"Slow down, this isn't your damn bachelorette party!" Renee hisses at me. "Brooke what's wrong?"
I pour me another large glass of straight vodka, my body feeling light and weak. I've never drank this before. I wonder why. Swallowing, I take the Russian medicine like a man. Everything begins to spin very fast. I can feel my body begin to get unsteady.
"Brooke!" Renee holds onto my arm. "Stop it!"
"Baby!" I hear Evan from a distance.
I go to make another glass when everything goes black.
