Throughout the night, I don't know what kept me up more: the thunder and lightening or Chase's whining as he runs from room to room. I tossed and turned a lot, which woke Evan up. Now let me tell you something, okay? Evan, like everyone, gets pissed off when anyone or anything wakes him up from his deep sleep. Eventually, he wrapped his legs around mine and lets me use his bicep as a pillow.
This morning, when I woke up, I found my glasses on the bedside with a note from Evan. It read: Have a wonderful day sweetheart. I wanted to let you sleep in. Be safe. I'll call you later. -E.R.T
I got dressed and made Evan's bed so he won't come home and go crazy because his bed wasn't made. He's a bit of a neat freak but as long as I don't have to do the dishes or dust, I'm fine. Yeah, I know! I'm lazy. And yet Evan still says I'm cute.
After I fed Chase, I locked the house up before leaving. I headed to the coffee shop where I know Renee and Lucy will be. And I can already hear the earful I'm gonna get.

"Girl how many times do I have to tell you? How many, B?" Renee spats at me.
I hadn't even sat down and I'm still getting bitched at. Lucy gives me a look, her blue eyes worried. Renee on the other hand, God, she's coming undone.
"It's bad enough that you once snuck around with him, but skipping OUR night!?" Renee exclaims, her dark, curly hair bouncing every which way. "When can we come to the decision to break up with his small ass?"
"Hey!" I hiss at her annoyed, "That's my Baby's ass you're talking about. And it's not small—ish."
Renee puts her hands on her hips sassily. "He slept with his ex after his friends ambushed you and tried to make it appear as if you were trying to cheat on him! Still wanna call him you're 'Baby'?"
Lucy wrinkles her tiny nose at us as she continues to eat her double chocolate chip muffin greedily. I go to grab a piece when she tries to bite me. I glare at her as she shows me her crooked teeth. I could smack this bitch. I probably should, Renee's voice brings me back from the dark place.
"He made a mistake. We all do." I am so hungry, "Evan has apologized for it and we've been doing just fine since then."
"Just fine isn't just fine. He's your bosses son, Brooke. He's gonna take over the company in a year. What would a guy like him be doing with somebody like you?" Ugh, hurtful much? "You're so much younger than him and plus, he is friends with his ex's! That's not the relationship you need to be in."
I sigh at my friends words. "He's my first boyfriend, okay? He taught me how to kiss, how to understand football and his music, how to get over my unaddressed anxiety without medication, and how to have sex."
Renee groans. "Let me guess, substitute the nail biting for foreplay, right?"
Both Lucy and I notice how other people look at us as Renee gets even louder. How embarrassing. She just doesn't understand.
"I know he's done me wrong in the past, Rey. Evan and I both know it, but I always cave for those blue eyes." I say sadly, "He hasn't cheated on me again."
Lucy finally speaks up after licking up all the crumbs from her muffin. I watch as she uses her thumb to get the remaining crumbs on the table. Chills run down my back at the thought of the germs on these tables. Yuck!
"Listen, I know my word means crap to you both but" Lucy sighs, "it was a mistake. He was heartbroken and wanted to hurt you harder than you had hurt him only to bite him back on his flat butt."
Renee and I remain silent as Lucy rambles on. My dark haired friend can hardly stand my curvy, blonde haired friend, but we do make a weird trio. Renee gives me annoyed looks as Lucy talks.
"I've never met Evan but if he really wants you, he would put a ring on your finger. Period!" Lucy exclaims too loudly.
"Shh! Loudmouth." I hiss at my curvy friend.
Lucy gives me a dimpled smile while Renee keeps her usual scowl.
"He's never abused me in any way." I say in Evan's defense, "It's been 5 months since that shit happened anyways. His loyalty has been thicker than peanut butter in a straw for 5 months. Evan still tries to make up for it. I gotta go."
I get up from the booth and head towards the door. Renee and Lucy call after me.
"Where the hell are you going?" Renee barks at me.
"Home." I call over my shoulder.
"Good, go fix your hair! You look like you forgot to comb it." Maybe cause I did, Lucy!
