*Brooke's POV*

Evan had a business meeting in L.A. and had to leave Seattle for a week. As his secretary I should have went with him, but he told me that it was strictly business and he needed to focus on the meeting instead of his own dick. So I stayed home and took care of things at the office, using the keys Evan gave me. Evan called me almost every night, filling me in on his so called "boring" trip.
It rained A LOT and both Chase and I were cooped up in the house. It was miserable to take him out to potty, especially during the thunderstorms. He crapped all over the house an guess who had to clean it up? Me! That's who, me! I was ready for Evan to come home by day 3 but I had four more days to go.

Thunder rolled in the distance and I hurried out of Taylor Publishing & Editing building on my skirt pencil skirt and dressy top with flats. Eww my feet are wet!
I have to be at Lucy's bridal shower in 20 minutes! And it's across town! UGHHHH! Everyone took their precious time to pack up and clock out. And I forgot my gift on the counter at home! I am screwed now.
Renee said she wasn't going to shower because she was going back to work and letting her mother and stepfather take care of the girls while she and Brenton worked. I wish I had asked to watch them instead of attending a party where Lucy brags about every detail of her "fairytale" themed wedding. I am already coughing up the glitter she's putting in the goody bags. And she's going to Disneyworld for her honeymoon. The one place meant for children and she's going there for her honeymoon. Tisk tisk it will never be the same in my eyes.
As I run to my car, I hear a whine like sound. I took around the parking lot, getting soaking wet from the rain. I hear it again! As I get closer to Hulk, that sound gets louder. It's right under my—I bend down to see an animal seeking shelter beside the wheel of HULK. It whines to me, it's big eyes bulging. My heart breaks and I immediately grab the emergency blanket I keep handy in HULK. The little animal goes straight to my ankle, shivering and whimpering. It's a small dog. I just can't tell what breed it is because of all the mud that is covered on its fur. I wrap it in the blanket and put it in the passengers seat. When I hop into the drivers seat, it whimpers loudly. I speed to the animal hospital across the city.

I waited an hour before the Veterinarian Nurse came back to the front of the Animal Hospital. She brought me back to the animal recovery room with all the sad cages. It breaks my heart when I see all kinds of howling, shaking cats and dogs. I force myself to look away from their sad faces.
When we get to the actual dog shelter part of the kennel in the back, the dogs all begin barking excitedly at me. I giggle and coo at them.
"Your pug you picked up as been whining for you ever since you gave her to us." Pug? Her? It's a girl pug? "Took us a while to get the mud residue and grime all off of her but she's squeaky clean now. So, you found her beside the wheel of your vehicle?"
"Yup. She came right to me and wouldn't let me go until I wrapped her up and brought her." I blink, "I didn't even know it was a her."
"Well, we've made several phone calls and no one is claiming that they have a missing year old, fixed, black, female pug." The nurse unlocks the dogs kennel cell.
The pug comes right to me, barking and running in circles. I bend down and scratch her hears.
"So, after some paperwork, you will be able to take this cutie home." The Veterinarian Nurse says cheerfully.
"Whoa whoa!" I say quickly, "I can't take her home! My boyfriend already has a MALE dog whose still just as horny after he was fixed. He won't let me get another dog!"
The Veterinarian Nurse rolls her eyes at me. "Well, it's you or the pound."
That word sends chills down my back.
