Sam sighed and layed back down on her bed after her father left. She felt both mentally and physically drained from the day. As she waited for Peter to swing by she put in her head phones and put her music playlist on shuffle. The first song to come on was Holding On To You by Twenty-One Pilots, it was one of her favorites. She moved her head to the beat of the music as she focused on the lyrics and how truly beautiful they were. A song about strength, how fitting she thought to herself. When the song was just about over her phone buzzed. Immediately picking it up she was greeted with that same old feeling of butterflies. Peter was texting her to let her know that he was on his way up. Sam got off her bed and threw open her window. There he was, the sweet smile and the blue eyed boy that had turned her world upside down, clinging to the side of the tower. Peter smiled looking up at her and swiftly moved up the side of the tower and swung into Sam's window. Once inside of Sam's room Peter wasted no time pulling Sam in for a hug. "I was so worried when your dad told me what happened." The worry coming through in his weak tone tone of voice. "I'm fine Peter," Sam said smiling and pulling away from the hug. "You will be, that creep got locked up," Peter said. "It's so strange, I know he's behind bars and everything and I shouldn't be afraid but, I still have this feeling that he is coming," Sam said softly. She hadn't fully recovered from the day emotionally yet. "And I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that he was able to put this outside my window, AND then get arrested," Sam said holding up the letter Oc had left outside her window. "That's from this morning?" Peter questioned taking the letter to examine it. "I saw it before Pepper and I left this morning, no one knows about it besides you and I." She then took the note back from Peter and put it in the bottom of her dresser and covered it up with clothes. "Just in case," Sam said to Peter referring to the note. Peter offered a reassuring smile before remembering that he had some stuff to give to Sam. "Oh yeah!" Peter said reaching to his front pocket "Ned insisted I give you this," Peter said pulling out a Leia Lego figure. "Woah! No way he wants me to have one of his Legos?" Sam questioned not believing that Ned could part with something that was so valuable to him. "He gave me one too actually, he said we all needed one kind of like a friendship charm. He has the WHOLE collection but his favorite is Obi-won, he gave you Leia and then gave me Han." Peter blushed finishing his sentence. "A scruffy nerf herder, huh?" Sam said looking over at Peter, while sitting down on her bedroom floor. "That fits you perfectly," Peter laughed at Sam's comment and took a seat next to her. "But anyway, Ned told me to tell you happy early birthday and he hopes you feel better, and hoped you didn't lose any trivia knowledge when you fell." Sam responded to Peter by laughing. "Well tell him thank you, and that I could take him on anyway," Sam responded back triumphantly. "I also brought you something else but its not your present. You will have to wait until tomorrow for that. But I did bring you some of these, I figured we could share." Peter said pulling a bag of gummy worms out of his jacket pocket. "Oh my god you remembered! These are my favorite," Sam exmalimed, she really loved gummy worms and had told Peter one night on top of the tower. "Mine too," Peter said excitedly back as he opened the bag and held it out to give Sam the first one. "We should watch a movie," Sam stated. "I don't know that I can get away with staying that long." Peter put his head down to try not to look so sad by examining the second gummy worm he picked up. "Come on we can watch one of my favorites or your favorites or something scary!" Sam said getting more excited with every word. "You like scary movies?" Peter asked. "Of course don't you?" Sam replied as if it were a test. "I like Alien..." Peter replied back sheeply. "That doesn't count, that's a sci-fi movie," Sam said giggling. "I just don't like being scared." Peter replied back trying not to sound nervous as he chuckled back. "Horror isn't about being scared Peter, it's about life." Sam said trying to explain to him, having just ate another gummy worm. "What?" Peter said laughing, confused by what Sam was trying to say. "Okay for example, of course "The Shining" is about how the Overlook is hella haunted. However, it's also about how real life can be just as scary. You see this man completely slipped into insanity just to realize that he had always been crazy and always had been abusive. Even if he hadn't moved into the hotel for the winter, he probably would have lost all of his marbles anyway. Scary movies aren't always about the evil guy with fingers for knives, or the guy in the mask with the slasher knife, or even the ghosts that haunt the hotel, it's about the characters and what they go through that make you feel for them a lot of the time. The scariest parts of the movies are what they go through without the killer involved. That and "The Shining" is one of the best movies of all time, and if you don't think so you don't know anything about film." Sam said all in one go rewarding herself by eating another gummy worm. "Wow, this Shining movie is really important to you huh?"Peter asked, smiling because of how passionate she was. "It's only number two of my favorite movie list," Sam replied back sarcastically smiling to Peter. "Number one being Ghostbusters of course," Sam said holding her hand up indicating the framed poster on her wall. "Now that's a movie!"  Peter said hoping Sam would want to watch that instead. "I thought you didn't like getting scared Parker," Sam said laughing. "Ghostbusters is not a scary movie Sam. It's an adventure flick with ghosts in it, and it's totally awesome and not at all scary. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Iconic!" Peter was trying to both be funny and defend himself. "Well, I still feel like if you love movies you should watch The Shining," Sam said going to take another gummy worm out of the bag. Peter too reached in at the same time not realizing, and brushed Sam's hand. Pulling his hand out of the bag and blushing Peter softly said "Sorry." Sam just smiled, her face growing red too and handed him a worm. Peter looked in her eyes, then looked down at his buzzing phone, breaking his gaze with Sam. The text he received was from May and said "Peter, your curfew is in thirty. Where are you?" Peter frowned looking at this message. "I gotta go," he said looking back at Sam sadly. Sam replied back sadly, "But the Shining." Peter stood up answering her back "Sorry, but curfew calls." Sam stood up frowning at first then smiled coming up with a idea. "Well hey, how about this, you go home watch "The Shining" and I will take these gummy worms off your hands and finish eating them," Sam smiled and batted her eyes comedically. "Even though your obviously getting the better end, deal!" Peter said extending his hand out to shake on the deal. Sam looked down at his hand and passed it completely hugging Peter goodbye. Peter embraced her back and smiled. She truly was amazing he thought, and the only person who could convince him to watch something spooky. Sam pulled away pulled down the DVD copy of "The Shining" and handed it to Peter. "Tell me when you get home, wall crawler," Sam smiled as Peter stood on the edge of her window. "Will do my lady," Peter said before jumping through her window and caught himself by finding a good place to shoot his web. Sam watched as he swung away until she couldn't see him anymore. Sam put the Lego figure up on the closest shelf to her bed, thinking about how sweet it was, especially coming from Ned. She then took out one last gummy worm before closing the bag up for the night and put it on her night stand. She got in to bed and and popped the worm into her mouth. And for the first time in awhile Sam closed her eyes and went to sleep, peacefully and happy. Excited for tomorrow. Happy that Oc was no more. So she thought.
