Sam woke up from the best sleep of her life the next morning. Everything seemed right in the world, now that everything was out in the open. She felt relieved of a stress that she didn't know existed, both with her dad and with Peter. Her dad finally knew about her and Peter, and despite the fact that he wasn't completely on board and was still worried for her safety, he accepted that her feelings for Peter were strong and may outweigh the cons. And Sam felt like coming clean about her feelings with Peter was the best thing she could do. Sam had never grown up with a clear idea of what exactly love was. She knew she loved her dad, and her extended family. But when it came to romantic love she was clueless, movies don't exactly capture how it feels. From the moment she met Peter that first day at the receptionist desk, she knew exactly how she felt. Being able to admit that to him last night was both terrifying and awesome. After everything calmed down between everyone last night, Happy escorted Peter home, and Sam walked him outside to the car. “So..." Peter said awkwardly, smiling as he walked down the steps of Stark tower. “Yeah?” Sam asked smiling back at him. “You love me, huh?” Peter smirked flirtatiously. “I guess you're pretty cool,” Sam said with a nudge to Peter's arm. “Ah now I see, I'm just cool,” Peter said laughing slightly but then calming his face. “But really, you don't have to just say that because you think you should...” Sam kissed Peter, cutting him off from his rambling. “Wow,” Peter said smiling his cute yet dorky smile that Sam loved. “I didn't just say it, I really do you love you Parker,” Sam said feeling her face become red, but ignoring it completely. Happy beeped the horn of the car very loudly and yelled out “Sam, your great and all, but I don't get paid for this.” Sam giggled and yelled back, “Sorry Happy!” Peter looked at her for one more second, he felt like he couldn't leave. She was beautiful, despite her eyes still being red from crying. “I love you too Sammy,” Peter said grabbing Sam's hand and squeezing it gently as he looked into her eyes, then he jumped into Happy's car. She thought back to all of this as she got out of bed to shower and do something to the curly mess that was her hair. After getting out of the shower she put on some jeans and a red My Chemical Romance t-shirt, then she headed down stairs. As per usual, Steve was in the kitchen making breakfast for Sam and himself. “Last night went better than I thought,” Steve said looking back at Sam. “I am a bit shocked myself,” Sam said replying back to her uncle as he turned back around to flip the sizzling bacon over. “I thought for sure that you were grounded for life, and as for the kid...” Steves sentence was finished by Tony filling in the blank where Steves words fell short. “I thought he would have fought me for taking the suit away. But you must be more important than the suit to him.” Sam and Steve looked at each other as Tony spoke, Sam was caught off guard by what he was saying. Sam had gone to bed without fully explaining or apologizing to her father, and vice versa. They both kinda just went their own way, feeling too awkward to discuss what happened, and went to bed. “I guess so,” Sam said softly crossing the room to hug her father. Steve quickly finished making the bacon and eggs as well as some toast. “I think I am going to just take my eggs and bacon on the go, and make a sandwich,” Steve said looking in between Tony and Sam. The awkwardness was building slowly. “See you guys later,” Steve said quickly before making his way towards the elevator, heading out for his run as quickly as possible. “So you and Peter have been sitting on top of the of the tower and...” Tony trailed off allowing Sam to fill in the blanks. “Talking, and hanging out,” Tony smirked at Sams comment. “No pun intended right?” Sam chuckled at her unintended joke. “I thought you were afraid of heights kid, I mean being in the suit is one thing, but unrestrained? How were you comfortable getting up on top of the tower?” Sam smiled at the question and replied as honestly as she could. “I don't know dad, Peter just makes me feel safe.” Tony jokingly gagged at his daughter's response. “That was cute, too cute,” Sam laughed at her father. “I'm sorry I kept it from you dad,” Sam said looking at her dad intensely. Tony looked back at Sam, and took a deep breath. “I'm sorry I made you feel like you couldn't talk to me. I have always just been consumed by keeping you safe, and never letting anything happen to you, that I didn't realize I made myself somewhat unapproachable.” Sam did not speak, but she did slightly shake her head agreeing with what her father was saying. “I think a part of me didn't want to accept that you were growing up either. But after last night I realized that you are, and I don't want you going into adulthood hating me because I didn't let you live.” Sam could feel tears form in her eyes. She loved her dad more than anything else in the world. He gave her everything and was there for her always. “I could never hate you dad,” Sam said pushing the tears back in her eyes. “You're my best friend remember? Nothing will change that.” Tony smiled from across the table and Sam smiled back. “Nothing will change that,” Tony said in agreement sticking out his pinky finger to promise Sam, as he had many times before. Sam quickly extended her finger and accepted the pinky promise. “While we are promising each other things, promise me that Peter will not be sneaking into your room anymore,” Tony said looking straight into Sam's eyes. “Agreed,” Sam said understanding where her dad was coming from. “Good, good.” Tony said standing up and getting a mug for some coffee. “You guys can hang out now that all the air is cleared, but I would prefer if it was done in open rooms and no closed doors,” Tony said firmly. “Dad!” Sam said loudly, trying to put a stop to his "dad" speech. “What, all I am saying is...” Tony said laughing, before being cut off by Sam. “Nope I understood, just stop talking,” Sam said internally cringing, she was picking up what her dad was putting down. “Okay, okay fair enough,” Tony said laughing. “Well, finish eating your breakfast and meet me downstairs. Now that you are dating boys, especially one that has powers and all, you need to know how to defend yourself.” Sam knew he was referring to practing with her suit. “You got it dad, I love you,” Sam responded back. Tony looked back at Sam and reflected on how well they made it through this milestone of her dating. He returned her smile before heading down stairs. “I love you too kid, more than you know,” he said as he walked towards the lab.
