Sam continued to hang on to Peter as he made his way through downtown. She loved the feeling of the wind on her face. Peter started to slow down reaching an empty sidewalk, and put Sam down on the ground before releasing his web, lowering himself down. Peter finally spoke, “I know it's not Italy or anything, but I was thinking we could walk around downtown for a little bit, just us.” Sam smiled listening to Peters sweet voice. “This is perfect, really.” Sam said blushing at Peter, who grabbed her hand and started walking downtown. They walked past stores, and coffee shops as they made their way towards Broadway. Despite the lights being overpowering with their beauty, and the euphoria of being out in the crisp New York air, Peter could only look at Sam who was grinning ear to ear. “You've really never been on Broadway?” Peter asked as the lights got closer and closer. Sam shook her head, “No I have always wanted to, but its to high profile, ya know?” Peter nodded. Though his upbringing had not been in anyway financially stable like Sam's had been, he still felt bad for her. Sure him and May didn't always have money to do things, but she always tried. Even if it was just walking around downtown or going to the park. Sam didn't get to do any of that, she was confined to a world of secrecy and hiding. He never realized until he started seeing Sam how much he really took for granted in his life. Even something as seeing the street covered in colors on Broadway, something he had seen time and time again, meant the world to Sam. when they finally reached Broadway Sams mouth fell open, “This is..” she trailed off not able to find the words. She looked around some more and took it all in, and finally found the word to describe how she was feeling. “Wow!” Sam exclaimed. “So, what do you think?” Peter said finally catching Sams gaze. “This is breathtaking,” she said holding her hands up indicating the huge marques that lined the street. “Oh, down there is where I saved someone for the first time ever,” Peter said pointing a little bit down the way. “Oh really?” Sam said looking up into Peter's deep blue eyes. “Yeah this lady was coming out of Main Stage Theater, and some guy ran up on her, took her purse and ran off." Sam interrupted Peter with a few giggles she let slip out. “What?” Peter said sarcastically smiling. “It's just that as a superhero that has got to be the cheesiest first hero moment ever,” Sam said to Peter who immediately responded. “You didn't let me finish, for all you know that lady could've been famous, I mean she wasn't, but still.” Peter slightly chuckled hearing Sam laugh at his joke. “So did she give you money in return for getting her purse back to her?” Sam asked. “Solid five bucks,” Peter laughed looking at Sam. As they walked down the block Peter and Sam started up a conversation about school. “So your done for the year already?” Peter asked. “Yeah, I always finish kinda early. I guess that's another good quality I got from my dad,” Sam said referring to her intelligence. “Wow, smart and beautiful,” Peter said still holding Sam's hand as they walked away from Broadway. Sam looked over at him then looked away feeling her face become very warm. “So what about you, when are you done with school?” Sam questioned trying to change the subject. “End of May, finals are in a week and then there's prom and then the last week of school.” Peter said casually. “I have always wanted to go to a dance.” Sam said her eyes wide. Peter heard what Sam said but didn't respond. Hearing Sam say that she had always wanted to go to prom made him nervous. He had never been one to want to go to dances. He never had anyone to go with, besides Ned, and even then he and Ned would just stand to the sidelines and talk the whole time. Peter took a deep breath and said “Eh, dances aren't really my thing.” Sam lowered her head a little bit. She was hoping Peter got her hint. “I always see them in movies and stuff, it's one of those things I feel like I have seriously missed out on in life,” Sam finished. Peter could feel the sweat begin to drip down the back of his neck. Did Sam really want to go? “I um, I'm not much of a dancer.” Peter stuttered out not sure how to respond to Sam’s eagerness to want to go. “Oh,” Sam said the sadness clear in her voice. Peter immediately felt bad. She hadn't had things easy, remember Parker, he thought to himself as they turned another corner. “Wanna take a seat?” Peter asked Sam indicating the bench close by. “Sure,” Sam said. She wondered why Peter didn't want to ask her to prom. Maybe it had something to do with the fact she wasn't allowed to leave the house. But Peter had to know that by then Sam would probably come clean to her dad. Sam decided to push the thoughts out of her head as she took a seat next to Peter. Peter slightly fiddled with the gift that still sat in his pocket. He looked over at Sam who was looking up at the sky, then looked down at his pocket, slowly pulling the tiny wrapped gift out. “Happy Birthday Sammy,” Peter said nervously handing Sam his gift. Sam looked over at Peter, took the gift in her hands and smiled. “Aw, thank you,” she said, the enthusiasm clear. She slowly pulled back the wrapping to see a tiny bracelet. “It has a rose on it, because you loved the one I got you so much. I tried to find a yellow one, but all I could find was the pink rose.” Sam looked at the bracelet lovingly. The bracelet was a tiny cuff bracelet, made from wire. It had a few pink beads on the braided wire, and in the center held a tiny pink rose charm. “I know it's not much...” Peter couldn't finish his sentence due to Sam interrupting him. "It’s beautiful, it's perfect,” Peter smiled. “To put it on you just bend it like this,” Peter said bending the simple yet beautiful bracelet around Sams wrist. “I love it Peter,” Sam said looking at Peter, the familiar feeling of warm cheeks began to grow over her face. Peter stared back into Sams beautiful eyes. Sam slowly started to lean her face closer to his. Watching this happen turned Peters face about as red as the shirt he had been wearing. Though he was nervous, he too began to lean his face closer and closer. Peters head started spinning, he couldn't think straight. All he could think about in that moment was how much he cared for Sam. Finally clearing his head Peter decided to make the move and quickly and sweetly kissed Sam. The two pulled away slowly still looking at each other as though nothing else mattered, and began to slightly laugh at each other. Sam finally stopped laughing to smile at Peter. She began to reflect on her birthday. Her own Iron Suit, a trip to Italy, and her first kiss, this really had been the best birthday ever. Or so Sam thought. Because as Sam and Peter began to fully pull away from each other, they were both startled by a car horn. Jumping and turning her head around, Sams heart fell. There sat Happy's car. Sam froze unable to move due to fear. “Get in kid!” Happy yelled towards Sam. “You to Parker, Tony wants to have a word with both of you.”
