Chapter Two

I answered the call and placed the phone on my left ear.

"Camilla." My boss called.

"That's me." I replied.

"Come to the office right now." He ordered.

"Why?" I asked.

"No questions!"

"But I'm on a break." I said and spouted as if he could really see me.

"I said no questions."

"That wasn't a question." I murmured to myself and rolled my eyes.

"I heard that!" He said from the other end and I compose myself immediately.

"I barely just got home sir. Can't I come tomorrow?" I asked.

"You're leaving tomorrow." He said simply like it was nothing.

"Wait what?? Leaving? For?" I asked confused.

"No questions! Come here or be prepared to go find another job." He threatened. With that, he hung up.

I brushed my hair back worriedly. What do I tell my mum now? She was really looking forward to today.

I went back to meet her and her happy expression changed when she saw my sad face.

"What's wrong dear? Who was that?" She asked worriedly. If I told her, she'll be really sad but I had to.

"My boss." I replied in a whisper.

"Why?" She asked but I didn't reply. I couldn't. When she saw this, she got the message. "He wants you at work right?" She asked.

I looked into her eyes. She didn't look sad though. Was she expecting a No? Of course that's what she's expecting. I bit my lips nervously and nodded.

"It's okay Camy." She said.

"It is?" I asked completely shocked.

"Yeah. I know how much your work means to you and you'd come back right?" She asked.

"Yeah mum." I replied and hugged her. Tears fell from my eyes and I immediately wiped it off.

"You should get going now." She said and I nodded but none of us made any move to break the hug. I realized she was just being strong for me. She really doesn't want me to leave.

She slowly withdrew from the hug and kissed me forehead. I nodded and stood up. I quickly changed into a leather trousers, White top and leather jacket. I packed my hair in a ponytail and got on my bike. I wore my helmet and drove off.

"Sir." I called entering my boss's office without knocking.

"Next time, you knock." he said.

"Why am I here on my day break?" I asked ignoring his comment on how I barged into his office. Who cares? I didn't.

"Sorry about that but we have a huge task for you and only you can do it." He said.

I blushed at his compliment. "Why do you think so?" I asked.

"Because you're jovial, loving, caring and most importantly, you've got skills." He said.

I felt my cheeks go hot as I blushed uncontrollably. Fine! He was my boss but he's also super hot and just 23. He's also well built and skillful. Gosh! He was every girl's dream man... Mine including.

Snap out of it! I told myself and tried to focus on what he was saying rather than his kissable lips and muscular structure.

"-So, we need you to go there and try to get who killed her mother." He said.

"Uh... Okay sir." I replied. "But what's my pay?" I asked jokingly.

"One thousand dollars." He replied playing along.

"Come on Thomas. That's too small." I groaned.

He laughed and shook his head.

"Crazy." He said. "I'll call your partner in." he said. I grabbed a chair and sat the other way round, the chair in between my legs.

"Partner? I could do it myself." I protested.

"You could but you won't." He said and dialed a number. Minutes later, a guy walked into the office. My mouth almost dropped when I saw him. He looked hot and sexy.

"Who is this hottie?" I asked Thomas, grinning goofily at the guy.

The guy turned to me and didn't even smile but he still looked smoking hot.

Thomas chuckled aloud. "He's Hayden. Your partner." He said.

"Ho la la! I get a hot partner? I'm totally going to solve this case!" I said.

Thomas chuckled again before clearing his throat. "Anyway, this is the girl you guys are to find. Her name's Amelia." He said.

I nodded and collected the picture of the girl from him.

"Ten years?" I asked.

"Yeah." he replied. I looked at it again before handing over to Hayden but he totally ignored me. Snub right?

"Alright then. Go get packed. You're leaving tomorrow." Thomas said. I nodded. Hayden left immediately. "Mila, you'll need the pics. Take it and goodluck." He said. I nodded again and took the picture.

"Alright sweetie." I said and left the office. I heard him mutter something like crazy but I just smiled and left.

I packed all I'll need including my weapons and zipped up the bag. My mum was already asleep when I got home. I kissed her goodnight before going to bed. I needed to wake up early so we could leave early. I just hope Hayden wouldn't be has snobbish as he was today. I didn't want to have to handle a crazy snob with me.

I soon dozed off with the hope that tomorrow would be better. Well, it better be.
